BigNDfan80
I've had enough of Billy Botch. I get a sick feeling every time he comes in when the game is close. It's almost inevitable he's going to put some guys on base and either give up the game or have one helluva time closing it out. Your closer is suppose to be lights out. The other team is suppose to feel like they have no chance if they're down heading to the 9th. Do you really think anyone thinks they don't have a chance against Billy Botch? Shingo has closed games before..just not in the United States. He's been outstanding this year. And before anyone says that it's only because no one has seen him before.....that's the whole point. Make him the closer so I can relax when we get to the 9th in a close game.

SnB
There's no way you can disagree w/ this, shingo has been an absolute stud, easy decision for closer.
FUCKREINSDORF
It's either Shingo or Marte.Bet Kelly Wunsch doesn't look so bad now,huh Kenny?!?! Can we trade that f*** up Belly Crotch to some sucker for a bag of used baseballs?? God,does he suck.Who didn't know he was gonna blow it in the 9th?? The broken bat hits aren't what frosts my ass.THE WILD f***ING PITCH IS!! Not to mention leaving the bases loaded and not scoring in the 8th and 9th!! :banghead :banghead :banghead
Yoda
And before anyone says that it's only because no one has seen him before.....that's the whole point. Well said. But I have a feeling Ozzie will stick with Billy for a while. He keeps blowing saves and Ozzie will just give him more opportunities. It's just a matter of time till Ozzie opens his eyes and notices that Koch isn't doing s***.
greg775
I agree with all of you. This thread isn't an undeserved rant. He's simply not good enough, at least in a Sox uniform. Trade him to the Mets for one marginal prospect.

Rowand44
You guys are missing a huge point here. If shingo becomes the closer then that makes mike jackson the right handed setup man. Koch becomes completely useless if he gets taken out of the closers role. If kw can make a trade for another right hander who could setup then you can make shingo the closer but if you do that now then you mess the whole bullpen up. SoxAce
I wouldn't mind a: Mop-up: Cotts (or someone else) Specialist: Adkins (or trade for a decent bullpen arm.) Specialist: Wunsch Setup: Marte Setup: Jackson Closer: Zero Shingo has filthy stuff. When I saw him face Dye, he threw that frisby, and Dye turned to Alomar saying "what was that?" Than he painted him on the outside corner. That was nasty..
southsider2k5
So, I'm curious, since when does KW do anything right in trades right now for what WE want? exactly my point. WE want to win. I would guess that the GM of the White Sox want to win too. That is why you do trades, to try to win. THAT is my point.
flippedoutpunk
Shingo has filthy stuff. When I saw him face Dye, he threw that frisby, and Dye turned to Alomar saying "what was that?" Thats what i like to hear The whole point is to get the hitters to say "What was that?" Not to have your pitcher (Billy Koch), say it after every pitch, then your in trouble. soxman352000
Shingo must be the closer. I hope they see why we call him mr zero he is great. I'm sick of Koch
qwerty
I feel if they do not make him the closer soon something is really wrong with the organization. I don't care how much money koch is making, if he is hurting the team it is just not worth it.
AngelasDaddy0427
It's impossible to disagree with something that is just so obvious. Shingo is awsome to watch, Koch is painful to watch. Sadly it won't happen...

Guest JimH
I would not be surprised to see Shingo get an opportunity to close a game up in Seattle. Not saying I want a closer controversey, just saying I wouldn't be surprised. Today's loss = incredible lack of situational hitting, or clutch hitting. Two things if this were sept or even the playoffs and we had a one run lead, who would you want to be the closer. Lets just pretend this was a playoff game in oakland. Second- He is right now our best pitcher in the pen.
Gene Honda Civic
My feeling on Shingo is alot like my feelings about Foulke when he was here. His best pitch can be crushed by a patient hitter. The thing is that he knows how to use it and how to set it up. So he makes a lot of people look stupid. He will get beat on occasion, but not the same way that Koch does. Shingo will lose by the Long ball. He'll miss a location/not set a guy up properly, and blow a save with a 450ft. shot over the wall. That being said, he's going to strike out a lot of guys, and allow fewer of them to get on base, so even when he does serve up the long ball, it's not as damaging. Shingo>Koch - But he's not perfect. No one is, Not even Gagne(3 hr's already this year)
Guest JimH
Right now, on June 2nd, not Shingo. He is doing fine in his role and he's acclimating well. If Koch had been getting torched I'd feel differently, but he hasn't. Guys need to know their roles and excel in them, especially a guy who's doing a whole bunch of other acclimating as well. If Koch sucks to high heaven for the next two weeks, maybe. Not now, its an overreaction.
Ozzietheairedale
I'm wondering where all the "Koch is a great closer because he hasn't blown many saves" people are tonight. That crow must be mighty tasty. Any closer controversy can be answered by asking yourself one simple question: Did anybody really feel confident with a 1 run lead in the ninth with Crotch in there? But of course, I have never pitched in the major leagues so my opinion doesn't matter.
