PWSox87
Why are they bringing up an unnecessary 3rd catcher and not another outfielder. Is Borchard that injured? Do you think he'll come up if he gets bette?
Mr. Showtime
Burke is more than just a catcher. Ozzie doesn't like to pinch hit for his catcher because it could come back to bite him in the ass. In this particular case, I think they'll wait and see what happens with Magglio. I'm sure his DL stint will be retro-active to his last start. So they'll wait and see if he's gonna be out a long time, if he's out a month like it looks than they can bring up one of the kids. If he's going to be back quick than no need for Borchard or Reed. Gene Honda Civic
Why are they bringing up an unnecessary 3rd catcher and not another outfielder. Is Borchard that injured? Do you think he'll come up if he gets bette? Yes - Borchard has been fighting injuries all year -- He hasn't played in at least the last 4 games. Unecessary 3rd catcher -- We probably would have won the game if we had burke today... How? you ask. 10th inning 1 out man on second -- Sandy aproaching the plate, sandy hits righties better than lefties. Miguell olivo has an ungodly high OPS vs. lefties this season, with more HR's vs. LHP than anyone else on the team. Ozzie is forced to keep him on the bench to guard against injuries, when he was clearly needed to hit in that sitiuation. The flexibility of ross gload and Burke make it such that Borchard or Reed is not needed up here. There's no reason to start JR's ML clock especially when he's been scuffling at AAA. AngelasDaddy0427
Everything will be fine. I don't mind Burke since Willie is going to be our new CF full time. That still leaves us Rowand, Perez, and gload to play RF. Plus Burke can play 3B too.
aboz56
Jamie Burke is not going to help you win games and if you believe otherwise, you are sadly mistaken.

No I don't think he'll help us win games, but he can give people rests off the bench in the late innings. I'm just trying to look on the bright side of all this... CWSGuy406
Two words: Jeremy Reed.

Aboz, You know I'm on the Borchard train too, but Burke > Injured Borchard (who's not likely to get rugular playing time if he was here)

Gene Honda Civic
But is Burke>Reed at this point? I think Reed at his worst would be > what Rowand/Gload/Perez could provide out in rightfield. Yes, but I have to qualify that yes. Reed's wrists are still in question. Though he has hit some HR's lately. His average has dropped considerably. .325 in April. <.250 in may.> Take a look at what our outfield will be vs. LHP and RHP LHP LF - Lee CF - Willie/Timo RF - Rowand RHP LF - Lee CF - Willie RF - Gload Reed's likely position would be RF(a power position) vs. RHP, and a platoon in Center vs. LHP His .280 average at the AAA level, equates to Why would we want to start his clock running already, to just be a platoon guy who's batting 8th. -- Burke gives us some flexibility, and if Maggs does end up being gone for some time, I expect to see a healthy Borchard called up over reed. I never thought of it that way, but i guess you are right that if we had burke today there would have been a good chance we won.
