BrandoFan
630 OBP? 1500 OPS? Only 80 walks to 10 Ks? I am beginning to wish some very bad things on the BalcoFreak.

Jordan4life_2007
The thing that impresses me most is the 80 walks to 10 strikeouts. That's just amazing. You can talk about steroids or whatever all you want. That does nothing as far as your eye and plate discipline go.

You do not have to have plate discipline and a good eye if u know they are gonna pitch around you or just intentionally walk you all the time. witesoxfan
You do not have to have plate discipline and a good eye if u know they are gonna pitch around you or just intentionally walk you all the time. They can pitch around you all the time and you still won't walk 80 times in 50-60 games like he has without great plate discipline. Hawk and DJ always talk about guys saying they look changeup and can still catch the fastball, and they talk about how hard it really is. I do agree. It's damn near impossible. Unless you're Barry Bonds. He's probably the only player in the league who can look changeup and still catch the fastball. What I still find hard to comprehend and just take in is how often Bonds really does go deep. He walks 170-180 times a year, and still hits 40-50 homers. In-f***ing-sane. You can throw him 5 perfect pitches on the black, and he is still likely to hit one out. I did not watch Mays play or Aaron play or Ruth play, and I didn't even see all that much of Henderson. However, I'd have to say Bonds is probably in the top 3 in having the ability to completely dominate a team. You take Bonds away from the Giants, and they are WORSE then mediocre, even with a solid pitching staff. Without Bonds, the Giants are in Expos-territory. With Bonds, they are a playoff contender. Funny how things work out. Out of the players in today's game making $15+ mill a year, Bonds is the ONLY one who is worth every cent of it and more. witesoxfan
Jason Schmidt and Barry Bonds are single handledly keepin the Gaints in the NL West division race rite now. Very much so. If one of them goes down, the Giants are done.
Texsox
I am more impressed with Frank being walked 50 times. All we are discovering with Binds walks is steroids causes homeruns and walks.

Pre-roid Bonds = 420 OBP, 580 Slugging, 1st ballot HOF Post-roid Bonds = 600 OBP, 800 Slug, 1st ballot Mount Olympus Only dopes didn't suspect anything in 1999. But in subsequent years, after all the evidence, physiological and pharmaceutical, to keep one's head in the sand must take a huge, lemmingian effort. I love the moronic "steroids don't improve your eyesight" defense. First of all, they do actually improve your sight when you get into your 40's. Secondly, they allow an already superbly talented, HOF player see the ball at least 2 feet longer without the normal reprecussions of being tardy courtesy of increased strenght and quickness/reaction time......And all that not even considering the recovery time and confidence benefits, something a 40yo slugger desperately needs. Of course his walks are WAY up. Most of them are of unintentional intentional variety. You bring up Aaron. See his body type and swing on ESPN Klassic or some compilation DVD some time.
