redandwhite
Taken from the Tribune: Cardinals manager Tony La Russa, a former White Sox skipper, has an open invitation from Sox Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf to visit the South Side. This might be his chance, because the Cardinals play a day game at Wrigley Field Wednesday and the Sox play a night game at U.S. Cellular Field. "I am invited to dinner Wednesday but I'm trying to set it up early so I can see part of the game," he said whats this about...
Texsox
JR getting old and burying the hatchet. No need for Ozzie to look over his shoulder. LaRussa has proven to be one of the top managers for the past two decades. Maybe never the best, but better than most. I thought Hawk's worse move was LaRussa. I could at least see some reasoning regarding Fisk to the outfield but never LaRussa.
greasywheels121
Don't make something out of nothing. LaRussa was a former Sox manager, and managed the successful '83 Sox team. The Cards are in town for a series against the Cubs, and JR wanted to catch up w/ an old acquaintance while he has the chance. It's no big deal; he's not taking Ozzie's job. Nor do I think he would want to; he seems happy in St. Louis.

Queen Prawn
LaRussa > Guillen Considering he has 20+ years of experience that Guillen doesn't, I would hope the equation you stated was accurate.

FlaSoxxJim
LaRussa > Guillen LaRussa $$$ >> Guillen $ We could afford Tony 20 years ago and that's why he was our manager then and not now. Oh, and Hawk did screw that up in his horrid single year as GM, didn't he?
The Beast
No way in hell is Larussa coming back to the sox. He has past history of not having good blood with GM's, but the owners he is fine with. He's not managing the White Sox, god forbid, I love Ozzie's attitude...

DonkeyKongerko
I find LaRussa's pitching moves so predictable sometimes. He definitely plays it by the book.

Oh, and Hawk did screw that up in his horrid single year as GM, didn't he? His year was over so fast I cannot remember anything besides LaRussa and Fisk. Did he do anything good? I do remember at least a couple Six fans glad to see Tony leave. They thought he didn't argue enough calls and "stand up for his guys". I guess getting ejected is a good thing. qwerty
The same can't be said for St. Louis with him. Yeah i have heard that if he doesn't get really deep into the playoffs this year he is out of a job in st. louis

cwsox
What about Harold's job? you are being silly, aren't you? As far as LaRussa, will probably be my all time favorite Sox manager. And everyone who reminded me of that horrible experience with Hawk as GM, I wish you hadn't. When Hawk fired LaRussa, finally, it was probably time for Tony to go though. Things had just reached that point. Damn shame. What has always astounded me is that LaRussa has only won 1 world series. With some of the teams he had, he should have won more.
