Elcaballo45
I thought this was a funny story as i was driving back from class this morning on the Jim Rome show. I guess they are going to vote on whether or not the vendor that sings opera during the game can stay hired. Because Detroit management told him to shut up if he wants to keep the job. So now they are going to ask the season ticket holders whether or not he should stay. I personally think its hilarious everytime I hear it on the TV when we play at Co-America BallPark.... Great voice too... Steve the Vendor gets my vote to stay!

kapkomet
LMAO. SS2k and I were at a Detroit game a few years back and he was there trying to sell ss2k a hot dog and he belts out a tune of hoooooooot doooooooooog, and ss2k purposely didn't buy his hot dog cause like a good home vendor, he was razzing him being a sox fan. So ss2k waited for the next vendor to pop by, and bought one from him. Upon getting the hot dog, he stood up, got the opera guy to catch a look, and pointed to his dog he just bought from someone else. It was hilarious. But you know what? The guy is good, think about it, we're talking about it on here and most people know of him. How can you fire the guy, or tell him to stop? I guarantee you that he sells more then most other vendors on average because he's different. Personally, I think it's awesome. Hope he gets to stay. Good memories. BrandoFan
The guy is great! It's a damn shame they never did hire a female opera-singing heckler to complement OSV.
DonkeyKongerko
He should stay. Why can't they just leave him (and Getup Guy) alone?

kapkomet
He's annoying as hell while watching the game on TV Yea, that is true, but you know what? Everyone in the country knows the hot dog vendor if you're a baseball fan. And guess what? That makes him quite all right in my book. Steff
Yea, that is true, but you know what? Everyone in the country knows the hot dog vendor if you're a baseball fan. And guess what? That makes him quite all right in my book. His act is funny the first couple times... try sitting there trying to watch a game and have him singing in your ear.. not fun. He's a nice guy.. but enough is enough.
kapkomet
In that sense, ya, that's true. He should probably get it out of the way in innings one and two and play shut the hell up the rest of the game. We did sit there through the whole game, harassing him...

It got EXTREMELY annoying after the first game i endured listening to him

Steff
So i can then assume Ronnie Woo Woo is alright in your book? It got EXTREMELY annoying after the first game i endured listening to him The second trip up there he remembered us - that we were annoyed by him but gave him a nice tip, without buying a hot dog - and he didn't stay near us long or come back the other 2 games we went to there. Like I said.. nice guy.. but annoying.
Texsox
It gets old. Let him sing when they score a run, or maybe on a homerun.

Good times Personally I agree that it gets old. My idea would be instead of him working the same section of stadium the whole game,(he pretty much worked dugout to dugout behind home plate) would be to have him work the whole place, and no one really gets that annoyed with him. It is a cool niche, and I bet he makes a hell of a lot more money than his peers, but to hear that s*** for 9 innings made me want to beat his ass. Great voice too... Steve the Vendor gets my vote to stay! First, I'd like to say it is Comerica Park. I'm sure you knew that. Also, I have never heard of this guy... strange. I've been to Comerica and have seen no shortage of televised games from there. There is one voice that I know of though, and it is a crazy voice from Kaufmann Stadium, saying (something to the effect) "Hurry! hurry, hurry, hurry, hhhuuurrrryyyyy!!!!" I don't know if it is saying hurry, but it sounds like that. I'm also not sure if it is male or female, but I'd guess female. Nearly everytime I hear a Royals game on radio or watch on TV I hear that damned voice.

Lol, i posted that original message when i was extremely tired, probably from staying up til 4 am to post messages like this one right here. Hahah... anyway, Im thinking if anyone should be told to shutup, it should be at Jacobs Field and that damn drummer guy that tries to start rallys. Now thats someone I wish would JUST SHUTUP! southsider2k5
The results are in. It's over. The skinny dude will sing -- but only once a game. After polling season-ticket holders, the Detroit Tigers have decided to allow Charley Marcuse, the singing hot dog vendor, one opera rendition a game. Marcuse, 22, will be broadcast on the big scoreboard during a second-inning hot-dog promotion when he belts out an operatic-style "HoOoOtT DoOoOgGs," during sales. Then he will be silenced until the next game. The promotion, called "Hot Dog Row," calls for free hot dogs for a row of seats in the park once a game. A vendor at Tiger Stadium and Comerica Park since 1999, Marcuse was told in mid-May to stop singing after some fans complained that he was too loud and overbearing
