YASNY
Remember the game against the, Yankees? Garland was walking everybody in site, yet Ozzie left him in their to pitch his way outta trouble. Garland got the job done and we were all saying how Great Ozzie was for stickin with him. He tried the same thing tonight. It just didn't work out. Oh well. Lets go for the series win tomorrow When a manager makes a decision and it works, he's a genius. When he makes the same decision and it backfires, he's a bum. It's been that way since there have been 3 outs in a half inning.
Jordan4life_2007
Josh In my estimation, you have to leave you starter in there, because we basically did not have Mike Jackson to pitch today (after last night), and Koch cannot be counted. With two less men in the BP, considering we were getting hammered early, you have to worry about tomorrow and try and get the series win. The key in baseball is to realize how to give up a game you have no chance in and worry about tomorrow. If we had lifted garland in the 3rd or 4th, that would have meant Marte, Shingo, Adkins and Cotts would all have to pitch today (since Jackson is not available, Botch could be brought in but he would leave with no outs but 10 extra runs, and Politte saved yesterday so he should go tomorrow) That meant tomorrow, we would not really have a rested BP, and with the philly O we might need them tomorrow to win this series. Hence it is the correct move....the starter can pitch 100 pitches....let him do that....so what if he gives up more runs....think war, not battle Couldn't have said that better myself. Those are very excellent points.

What you say really points out the fact that KW needs to be working the phones big time. The lack of a 5th starter is going to take its toll on the bullpen eventually and having Kroch out there taking up space will take its toll as well. I think it's time to really make an attractive offer to the Mariners for Garcia or Guardado or, preferably both. Crede should be attractive to them and perhaps a minor league pitcher or outfielder. Yoda
Why do you ask that? It's obivious Garland didn't have his best stuff today. True, but after the sixth inning those runs didn’t really matter since the Sox got 4 runs in the bottom of the ninth. If it weren’t for Koch, the game would have been tied, 10-10. Billy let three runs go by in the top of the seventh inning. In the top of the 8th, Shingo came in and went 1, 2, 3 on the Phillies. Takatsu should have been the guy pitching in the top of the seventh. I would blame Garland for this loss, but you also have to look at Koch. SkokieSox
I'm looking at the Numbers. I don't get to watch any games maybe one or two if I'm lucky. I just ask cause Ozzie got this uncanny nak to leave guys in there 2 long. That has paid off more than it has hurt us. You should have watched the game, even tough it was depressing, you would at least see the events unfold. It's real easy to say 8 runs given up, Ozzie's an idiot, but that's not the case. Josh is in Puerto Rico, so watching a Sox game isn't quite as easy for him as it is for the rest of us.

elrockinMT
That homerun thome hit off garland was a tough ass pitch that he just muscled out there. That pitch was high and on the outside corner just where someone like Thome could get extended and drive it the other way. He did. I think some of Ozzie's stick with the kid and give him confidence stuff goes just abit too far. Garland didn't have it yesterday and shouldn't have stayed in. Live and learn. Texsox
I'm just glad he gave Koch his wish to "get back out there" She said Billy, can't be a closer, just get on with your life Billy, you've been a loser, I'm not being your wife . . . FINALLY SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS WHAT I SAID AND DIDN'T TELL ME TO WATCH THE GAME The Yankee game was a Gamble and he was Lucky and Gar made some pitches and the Yanks Swung at bad ones. It could have gotten ugly. And as I said, Why Koch is still in our Pen is Beyond Me
YASNY
Early in Tuesday's game, Buehrle was getting rocked. Ozzie left him in there and he settled down and pitched well. He gave Garland the same leeway, but in this case it didn't work. I don't think either case was a mistake, I just think the baseballs were jumping out of the yard Tuesday and Wednesday.
