They broke up, and 11 years (10 years married) we are still together with two kids. So that way worked out best. I had also met about 3 other potential "girlfriends" over that weekend, but I didn't bother to even think about calling any of them once I met my future wife. When I say friends it more meeting girls through friends and then picking them up on your own, not in the sense of being set up. Say for example you go to a party and you bump into a few friends and they are like with someone u don't know and they are like this is so and so. Typically though school usually works best for me.
