BigHurt4evah
Hey we all can agree that Paul Konerko busted out as an all-purpose hitting machine in 2002, but what did he do differantly to get there? He led spring training with a .481 BA, but does anybody know if he was workin out with anybody or somethin? Also, on a PK note, does anybody know if he's been workin out with a speed coach? he kinda needs it...
Soxplosion
I dont know but there is one thing I want to congratulate PK on. I like how he has tried to end this whole debate with Thomas. I wish Thomas would do the same. That was last year, this is this year and were a new team! And PK is quite modest. Sayin he aint good enough to be thinking about that crap, I think he has earned the right to brag about the way he plays...

Yes, Paul has tried to end this "debate", but Thomas needed to have one last word on it so he could put it behind him. Say what you will about Frank, but Paul had NO right to criticize him publically last season. If Paul wants to be a team leader, he should have gone to Frank and talked to him about it face to face like a man. That's what leaders do. Not saying that Frank isn't partially to blame, but I'm saying that Paulie hasn't been a saint, either. Hopefully, they have made amends, and while I'm sure they'll never be best of friends, hopefully they can play together without all the distractions. Hey, Bonds and Kent got into a shoving match in the dugout, and they came within a few outs of winning it all -- so it's definitely something that's do-able. kevingrt13
He did end up slumping, but hopefully he can come back along with all the other Sox players. I think Paulie was really the only player that truly ended on a September slump last year. In September he batted .256, 2 homers, 12 RBI, and a .301 On base Percentage. Not a huge slump, but did end 2002 on a bad note.

witesoxfan
He had a bad hand from July on that was alot of the problem. That and he had a foot problem as well. Wen healthy....he is a stud. However, his degenerative hip thing sucks for him. I didn't believe it when HSC said a few months back that if your hip is bad, your feet will probably be bad as well. This past week, my knee has hurt like hell....and along with it, my foot has slightly too. The knee is way different from the hip....but it just goes to show that HSC knows her s***. ncummings15
First of all, this is my first post. I read all the time and I thought I would just add some to this. The reason all this talk happened last year was because we were losing. If we are leading the division, noone cares about this stuff. It's amazing how wins can cure problems on a team. YASNY
That degenerative hip basically ended Belle's career. He was a surly SOB, but he sure could hit.
cwsox
seemed to me that PK messed up his swing in that All Star home run contest - wish he would have stayed out of that

Chisoxfn
Welcome aboard Nick. Your right, everything is amplified when a team is losing, at least in terms of chemistry and whats going wrong. I think the hip problem is going to effect Konerko, but so far he seems to be doing alright. I'm not sure on this, but I don't think this is the same thing Albert Belle had. If it is the same thing he had, then I do think the Sox should be worried in regards to long term contracts if you don't know how healthy he is. What i do know is that PK is a great player who keeps getting better. He's got a great attitude and plays hard every day.
