bulokis
Our very own Maggs Hey guys this is a great article on our superstar Magglio Ordonez. I am so impressed with him bcoz after coming off his best season last year, he didnt just sit and wait for spring training. He started working out and getting ready since Jan 05. He is truly the leader of our beloved SOX even if not through words but through his work ethic and just being one of the best baseball players in the league. He also said he wouldnt mind becoming an MVP but that comes only from working hard. I really like Maggs, his winning attitude and leadership through his actions. I believe he can take us to the promise land!!!!
mac9001
He's gonna have a big season. I think he's gonna get on a role and blast a lot of HR's.
BridgeportHeather
Honestly, I think Maggs will win the AL MVP this year! He will hit no short of .340 with 140+ RBIs and at least 40 HRs...He's gonna bust it out MAJORLY this year!!! SamME, don't you wish you were in Maggs' shoes now? IlliniKrush
Heather, those are some big numbers...i mean, .340? That's a stretch. I'd love it, but don't see it. How about .325-.330, with 40+ and 140+.
YASNY
Maggs has the potential to win the triple crown. And it wouldn't surprise me if he did it this year.
Soxfest
Maggs has yet to reach his peak season, could be this year.
Chisoxfn
Maggs will win a batting title, I know that much and he'll likely win an MVP. Hopefully all is done with the White Sox en route to some World Series Championships. Its good to know Maggs is working his butt off, practicing with the University of Miami football team and really getting into shape.
cwsox
Maggs has yet to reach his peak season, could be this year. Oh, but I hope he doesn't have his peak season in 2003. I hope he has his best season yet in 2003. And I hope he tops that in 2004. And tops that in 2005. And 2006... etc. etc. etc.
witesoxfan
Maggs has the potential to win the triple crown. And it wouldn't surprise me if he did it this year. He's got some tough competition for homers and RBIs in ARod....but he could blow everyone away in average if he has a real good year. I could potentially see Maggs hitting .350 or .360.....he's that friggin good. If he can hit 50 homers and drive in 160....that'd be incredible. Sometime in July or August.....after all the hype in Chicago is on the Cubs and their 'potential' NL Central crown(when in reality during that time they will be 4 games over .500....don't shoot me down.....I don't think they'll finish much over .500 if over .500 at all....but they do have a ton of talent)....some big sportswriter(named something other than Jay Mariotti.....hopefully Jayson Stark....the only ESPN writer other than Rob Neyer that is any good....or maybe Rob Neyer too....Tom Verducci....etc) will finally take a close look at Maggs's numbers....and realize what a great ballplayer he is. It's incredible. Maggs consistently hits about .310 30 110....and this past year hit .320 38 135....and he could put up a season like .335 45 150 this year....and yet, no one would notice. Sad Magglio Ordonez will be the type of player Frank Thomas or Ken Griffey Jr or Barry Bonds was in their primes....THE hitters in the major leagues...the guys kids pretend to be on the sandlot. And the great thing is....he doesn't say a word(usually). He just goes about buisness and hits the crap out of the ball. Maggs will be the middle of the order guy in Chicago for quite a while....atleast 5 more years....and hopefully more like 10. If the Sox signed him to a 10-year deal after 2004....with him earning about the same each year....that'd be great.

That's one thing i'm really scared about, if he kills the ball the next 2 years he's gonna want 15-16 mil a year and would the Sox's be willing to pay that? Pete_SSAC
My god, I would cream myself if he hit over .400.... - Pete
CubKilla
if he hit over .400.... Would the Chicago media even notice? Or the national media for that matter? Magglio Ordonez..... MLB's most under-rated player!

cwsox
if he hit over .400.... Would the Chicago media even notice? Or the national media for that matter? Magglio Ordonez..... MLB's most under-rated player! If Mags is hitting close to 400 by July the Maggs watch will be national - he is the perfect player to market - extraordinarily talented, very shy and unassuming (oh so cute!), his kids have great names (People articles galore) and it is such a fun name to say - every sports broadcaster will be all over it - all the stories will be on the unappreciated other right fielder in Chicago - I have no doubt it would be a great national story and it sure would piss off a certainly other player in another league in Chicago which be such a bonus for us

That's why we tie him down to a multi-year extension RIGHT NOW instead of waiting until the expiration date! Seriously, KW and JR should be discussing this stuff with Maggs presently! But I bet they aren't.
WhiteSoxPride3035
Great article. I do think that this will be Magglio's big breakout year. he will go above and beyond what everyone expected this year. That would be great. He has the potential to be the best offensieve player in the MLB.
YASNY
Whoa! Hold the phone on signing Maggs to a big bucks, 10 year deal after 2004. He's 29 now, will be 31 then.... and we want to commit big bucks to a guy who could possibly lose his bat speed at age 35? No thanks. Sign him to a 3 year extension now... tacked on to the end of his current contract. Signing Maggs to a 10 year deal 2 years from now would be like signing a guy like Jim Thome to a long term, big bucks deal this year..... .... hey.... wait a minute....hmmmm
Bighurt52235
Speaking of Jim Thome, I like the Phillies this year. I'm putting my name on it, the Phils will make the playoffs.
