CWSGuy406
I dunno if this was mentioned anywhere, I didn't see it, but supposedly Kenny has/had some major interest in Conteras, in fact, a deal almost went down yesterday. Dave Wills mentioned it on the post game show tonight, so I dunno how much you can take from it. I wouldn't mind getting this guy if we didn't give up too much. He has good stuff, and if Coop/Ozzie could get his head on straight, he'd be a very good pitcher. Again, only if we're wouldn't give up a lot. soxman352000
I'm not that desperate for a fifth starter, so Contreras wouldn't do it for me. If we get another pitcher I want one of the best ones avalible
CWSGuy406
I personally think Contreras can be pretty dominant if he gets his head on straight, he has nasty stuff. I really think Ozzie would have a real nice effect on him. However, only if the Yanks eat a lot of the salary, and we don't give up much. If contreras gets his head straight he can be dominate. He'd be a good acquisition only if the yanks ate almost all of his salary. By the way it was cool to meet you tonight. I was so angry with the game when I was talking to you I forgot to even ask you your name. :banghead

What's your name, by the way? I got KochThis (Brian, correct?) but I don't believe I got yours.

The Yanks are willing to eat up all of Contreas' contract to get Beltran or Freddy Garcia.

When I came over to talk to you, the sox were so dead at the time and then we started talking about Garcia and then the usher came by and then I just forgot to ask. Yeah - I was gonna come talk to you after the game during the fireworks, but I ended up not even staying for the fireworks. I was pissed - I hate that, coming back, get my hopes up, only to fall short.

They finally show life in the 9th only to come up short, those games hurt a lot to watch, you get some hope and then its crushed.

IlliniKrush
Ya, i left immediately following the game, that game was pretty pathetic. Good seeing Keith out there in his Borchard jersey, hope to meet some others as the year goes on Oh yeah, did anyone else become extremely annoyed with Pan-American night? No offense, but the music in between innings, etc was just overboard. I didn't feel like i was at a baseball game. lame.

Gene Honda Civic
Contreras would have made a good addition earlier in the year, so that Coop could have time to work with him. Now, He's been sent all the way down to A ball and even got knocked around there. He's lost all confidence, and is carrying a hefty pricetag along with it. It's too much of a risk if you ask me. SkokieSox
Supposedly, Contreras would have been payed for mostly by the Yanks and the Sox were going to use him as a closer.
SkokieSox
Interesting... Where is this out of???? It was on WSI. I didn't hear it first hand, but supposedly it was said in the post game by Levine.

Chisoxfn
I'd take Contreras if they take on Koch. I still think the Yanks would have to take on a little bit of his contract, but give him Coop and things could work out well.

I don't think Contreras is in A ball because he's that bad. The Yankees have an organizational facility there. I think it's in Tampa and that's where they hold ST. I'm sure there is a perticular person there they want to won't with Contreras. There are other factors besides ability for him being sent there. I still think the Yanks would have to take on a little bit of his contract, but give him Coop and things could work out well. I also think the strong latin influence, that was said to change Uribe for the better, can do the same for Contreras. He can be dominant when he's on, his stuff is great. Give them Kochy and a low-level prosect for Jose Contreras, and the Yanks eat a lot of the contract too. That is the only way Kenny makes this deal IMO, is if the Yanks eat a lot, if not all of the contract...
YASNY
It's not a bad gamble, imho.
Al Lopez Ghost (old)
With Mussina being pulled early, and Brown's back being questionable, the Yankees aren't going to let any quality pitching get away. So if Contreras can't help them, he can't help us.
Loaiza21
Give me Beltran and I say no to Contreras. Give me Beltran and Garcia and I'd say Kenny gets fired if he doesn't keep them.
