Chisoxfn
White Sox Come to Terms with 21 of Their Picks By Jason Gage June 12, 2004 FutureSox.com The Chicago White Sox have been very busy in the days following the draft. The hard work culminated in the signing of 21 of their draft picks. Tyler Lumsden and Giovanny Gonzalez, both compensatory picks, were the highest choices to sign. Guest JimH
The college guys should be reasonably easy to sign ... sounds like they're close on Fields. I don't know a guy like Whisler could improve his draft status much so I'm sure he'll sign too ... same with Lucey. I was most pleased to see them come to terms with the H.S. guys ... Harrell, Allen, Murphy. Those guys have a little more leverage. Especially Allen, who had a college football scholarship waiting for him. Good for the Sox. Looks like they did their homework. I'd suspect we'll see more signings within the next 10 days or so.
Old Socks
I look for the Sox to make a major push this coming week June 14-20 to sign a few more, especially our two college kids at the top of the draft.

Jim, agree. I think they want to get these deals done and get these young players placed with a team - and getting experience. The 6th round pick is a college guy, in addition to Whisler and Lucey. So are the guys in rounds 8-11 so it's plausible they sign all of them. Then, you drop down to rounds 20-22 where you've got high school guys who may have dropped due to signability issues, don't know for sure, just speculating. Guys like that either sign quickly or it goes down to the deadline. I'm sure there are a few draft and follow candidates, so after another handful of signings, we may not see many more get done. dasox24
I expect the Sox to sign the rest of our Top 10 picks since they're all college guys, and I think that Garry Bakker (11) and Jacob Wild (17) will also sign. After that, I have no idea, but I expect a couple of those later picks to be draft and follows.
