minoso's lifetime OPS is only 37 points behind magglio's..minoso played in a era when pitching was a lot better..he also was a gold glover while maggs is a little above average defensively...for that era , minoso was very comparable to maggs...plus he also started his career at age 28 not doubt due to the color of his skin...he should have gotten in

He also went through the burden of being black in a game full of whites and having to be that much better to succeed!

I'm sorry, but put Santo in the Hall already, this coming from a Sox fan. And no, it has nothing to do with his diabetes. He should be in there, period.

I agree .... Ron Santo is the single most deserving non-HOF'er. See Ron Santo vs. Brooks Robinson. No way Brooksie should be in there, and not Ronnie. No way in hell.

I disagree on Santo. He is not HOF to me.

Minoso should be in.

And I would have taken Brooks Robinson over Santo anyday. I made a special trip to Comiskey in 1977 to see Brooks' last appearance at Comiskey, he was special enough to make that trip.

We are all entitled to our own opinions, cwsox. And I respect yours. Yet, I see Santo as being superior to Brooks with the bat.... Though Brooks was good. And I see Robinson, as being superior to Santo defensively, though not by much. To me, that's a wash... if one is in, the other should be. Though neither of them hang with Mike Schmidt as far as 3B's go. Brooks did have the World Series exposure that Santo lacks, but day in, day out through the '60's.... I'd have a hard time picking which one I'd want to be my third-baseman.

Anyone old enough to have seen Brooks Robinson should believe he was the best defensive 3rd baseman of all time with the possible exception of Pie Traynor.

If you never heard of Pie Traynor, maybe you should find out before you want Minoso with him in the hall of fame. Minoso was very good. Hall of fame??

If skin color qualifies for the hall of fame, maybe we need more than 1 hall of fame.

As far as I'm concerned, Robinson is the greatest defensive 3B of all time. But, don't sell Santo short on his defensive abilities. He was excellent in his own right. And I mentioned Schmidt as being better than both, I'm talking about overall greatness as a baseball player, not just defense.
