soxman352000
I agree it was a nice grab, but I agree with Flash. Chip Caray is treating it like Willie Mays vs the Indians in '54. Chip treats every catch a Cub Player makes like that. He is dramatic I hate him I hope someone beats him over the head.
Jordan4life_2007
Mondesi is hurt, but still one hell of an outfield. I'm regreting dropping Anderson in fantasy now. lol..How the hell can u drop, Anderson?
whitesoxin'
lol..How the hell can u drop, Anderson? Rotoworld had a report in mid-May that said he might be out for the entire year, so that is who I blame.

According to the radio this morning (the loop), he has yet to be offered a renewal. Doesn't mean he won't be renewed, but the possibility is there. They were saying that it is because he is too critical of the Cubs' orginization. That caused me to almost lose control of my car from laughing so hard. whitesoxin'
When was the last time a point flew right over your head and you made a stupid reply? I mean, not counting the above. You think it's easier to hit a 95 fastball or throw a 2-0 breaking ball than it is to f***NIG CATCH A f***ING POP UP OR GET A GOOD READ ON A SOFT LINER THAT SEEMINGLY HANGS FOREVER???!! Moron. I played Leftfield for my HS team, so I think I know a little more about catching flyballs than you. It is IMPOSIBLE to catch the ball at one point when the ball is DIRECTLY in the sun. IMPOSIBLE! And yes, it would be easier to hit a 90 mph fastball or throw a breaking ball 2-0 than it is to catch a ball that is IMPOSIBLE TO CATCH. The ball is only directly in the sun one in every 200 flyballs during a MLB game, but it happens a whole lot more in parks where I play where there is no UD and few night games so we play around 6:00 which is the worst time for sun interference, as you should know if you've ever been to a 6:00 start for a Sox game or even being in LF for BP. BrandoFan
I played Leftfield for my HS team, so I think I know a little more about catching flyballs than you 1. Your "credentials" are irrelevant. Stop pretending that you're the only one who's ever had to catch a pop up - or deal with the sun, for that matter. 2. If they started holding fielders responsible for the ball dropping in their zone regardless of the "excuses", you'd see how quickly those plays would start getting made all of the sudden. No more lazy drifting or showboating. No more shades up on a sunny day. Or playing it safe, for that matter. 3. Wind, lights, sun, roof, background, bad jump, bad route, bad hop, bad luck, bad decision, etc......doesn't matter. If the ball of reasonable trajectory/velocity was supposed to be caught/fielded in the reasonable zone and it wasn't - ERROR. Subjective? Sure - so is the strike-zone on any given day. Hitters and pitchers have an EXTREMELY small margin of error, and same high standard should be applied to fielding.

All I'm saying is that there comes a time when the sun completely blocks the ball from your view. It is imposible to see it at one point, and then it shouldn't be an error. I never said anything about "zones".
BrandoFan
All I'm saying is that there comes a time when the sun completely blocks the ball from your view. It is imposible to see it at one point, and then it shouldn't be an error. I never said anything about "zones". 1. Temporarily losing a pop up in the sun doesn't mean it's "impossible" to catch it. Especially when you have the shades on. It's more difficult, true, but there are tricks and angle changes that can help you "find" it again. These people are getting paid millions of dollars. So whateevr. 2. You have no proof that a fielder lost it in the sun/wind/lights/background . None, you aren't not in his head and have no basis for making that call. A hitter can just as easily claim he didn't see the ball because of reflected light in his eye-sight, etc.......It's irrelevant. He should get an error either way. And if he really DID fall victim of the elements, then TOUGH LUCK. A hitter can scold the ball at somebody, bad luck. A fielder can lose it in the lights or get a terrible bounce, bad luck. Why should the former suffer and latter - not? 3. Sun is just part of my point. The ball is catchable, catch it. If you can't, I don't give a s*** about excuses. A hitter is late to react by a 10th of a second, and instead of a HR, he pops it up. A fielder may break the wrong way and lazily stroll after the ball after it falls in in front of him, allowing the runner not only to reach base but to advance - and he's never given an error. Such bulls***. Fielding is by FAR the easiest part of the game, and the standard for it should be even HIGHER. - not the way it's now where if you don't touch it, you're not responsible and when you do touch it, often times you're still given benefit of the doubt by the scorer.
