Jordan4life_2007
I would love to add Pavano to the staff. The only team, IMO, that can really compare to the Cubs rotation is the Marlins. The only team. Period. Astros, Phillies, Dodgers, A's, Red Sox, and Yankees if they get another starter. Which we all know they will. redandwhite
1-4 the Red Sox stands up, but 5(I think the Red Sox is Arroyo?) is where they fall off. don't count out at Kim at that 5th spot just yet ;o
qwerty
I didn't see the game tonight - but I heard Frank didn't play: a.) Who hit third, fourth, fifth? b.) Why didn't he play? Lee, Valentin, Konerko. Because ozzie wants all the bench players to get there at-bats in.
qwerty
I'm getting worried. With Maggs on the DL & Crede stinking the SOX are at a great loss in NL parks. When Thomas sits it puts a great burden on Konerko to perform. I believe we should bite the bullet D & start Thomas at 1st & Koney at 3rd. If we have the lead after 6 we can put Crede in at 3rd & move Koney to 1st. If Thomas doesn't hit the 3 run homer in the 8th on Thurs we don't win that game. His presence in the lineup is crucial to the success of this team. Can we afford to play these next 4 games with a weaker lineup? I agree with you because the expos may not be able to hit for s*** but they can sure pitch.

qwerty
He was pretty dominant last year as a starter. I would not consider his era o 4.29 to be dominant.
Jordan4life_2007
I would not consider his era o f4.29 to be dominant. Didn't he start off in the pen? Then later became a starter and pitched well?
redandwhite
I would not consider his era o f4.29 to be dominant. Well his ERA was in the 8's when he began starting

JUGGERNAUT
Beckett is coming off the DL since 5/31 for a finger blister. He tried to throw with it & wrecked his era. He's still dominating. OPS vs 686, OPS vs for RH: 586. Frank better be back in the lineup.
qwerty
Didn't he start off in the pen? Then later became a starter and pitched well? He could have not pitched to great as a starter if his total era for the season was 4.29. That's all i have to say.

redandwhite
check out his game log.. He only once gave up more than 6 runs as a starter, an gave up 6 twice.. to put that in perspective the AL Cy Young and Escobars former teammate, Roy Halladay put up 2 starts where he gave up more than 6... redandwhite
How many innings did he pitch in the pen before becoming a starter??? 17 1/3 as a reliever, and he was 12-8 with a 3.92 era as a starter.

That means nothing if you gve up 3 runs over 5innings or 4 runs or seven innings.
JUGGERNAUT
Josh Beckett VS. LEFT: .260 / .794 VS. RIGHT: .214 / .585 HOME: .203 / .574 AWAY: .287 / .858 (Stats listed are batting average and OPS against) Those home numbers are intimidating even when he's not at his best Our SOX are in 2nd place. Stupid Twinkies won.
