CanOfCorn
Anyone think this takes the Mets out of the Maggs derby? Hidalgo is a natural right fielder...
Pasqua's Mailman
Hasn't Hidalgo had a terrible year? I thought that the Astros were desperate to get that salary off their books. Maybe the Mets are taking a flyer on the guy hoping it works out, knowing all along that they will try to go after Maggs in the off-season. valponick
Forgot to add it was for David Weathers. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1823843 I know this part of the forum is for talk about the Sox, I assumed this would end any speculation of Magglio going to the Mets....at least during the season. SuperSteve
I could see them trying to get rid of Weathers too. The one thing this does look to do is take them out of the Carlos Beltran sweepstake. Beltran really has no suitors.
Wise Master Buehrle
I could see them trying to get rid of Weathers too. The one thing this does look to do is take them out of the Carlos Beltran sweepstake. Beltran really has no suitors. It's gonna have to be the Yankees. They're eager to get rid of Williams. They're eager to get rid of Lofton. Make way for the starting center fielder for the 2005 New York Yankees, Carlos Beltran. But that's next year. This year he'll probably go to the Padres for the pennant race out there.
SoxAce
It's gonna have to be the Yankees. Padres could get Beltran as well. They dont want to trade Burroughs though..
Dick Allen
Anyone think this takes the Mets out of the Maggs derby? Hidalgo is a natural right fielder... Hildago has something like a $15 million contract for next year with a $2 million buyout. He almost certainly will be bought out, but this gives the Mets a chance to kick the tires and check him out, and see if he'd re sign for something more reasonable. Unless Hildago returns to his form of 3 or 4 years ago, I don't think this has any affect on their pursuit of Magglio.
