NUKE_CLEVELAND
They did a fine job shutting it down tonight & that gave us a chance to win. Mucho kudos to Marte and Cotts.
qwerty
Just if one or two more guys besides marte and shingo could step up in the pen, it would be so huge for this team.

NUKE_CLEVELAND
Marte seems to have gotten over his early season "lost in the headlights" streak. Now that he's back to being money and Botch is gone I think the Pen is in much better shape.
dasox24
Hopefully Cotts' performance tonight will put him on track for the rest of the season. That would really help the pen if Cotts could get on track.

No more of trying to make him into a starter becuase he isin't one and wont ever be.
GoodAsGould
i wouldnt say he wouldnt ever be a starter.... i think their doing the same approach they did with buehrle start him as a reliever and then work him in as a starter next year

No more of trying to make him into a starter becuase he isin't one and wont ever be. actually I beleive his pitching has shown just the opposite. I think he'll make a better starter than a reliever. -- though right now his role is in the BP. He has become comfortable. His last three ER have come at the hands of BK and Thriller not being able to get the job done behind him. Earlier in the season ozzie had more confidence in him to get himself out of jams, but ever since the start, he hasn't been allowed to work with men on base. He is pulled as soon as he allows a baserunner. He has, for the most part this season, done a reasonable job out of the pen. He has been exceptional with other peoples baserunners. He tends to be too careful early in an inning when no one is on base. I'd like to see ozzie give him a little more leway(sp?). He's had a few unfortunate outings (Toronto, Minnesota, Oakland), But as a young guy he's needs ozzie to instill a little confidence in him again. Let him work himself out of a jam. Today would have been a perfect day. He retired 4 of the 5 he faced, but Ozzie brought in thriller with 1 out and a 4 run lead. Thriller promptly gave up a single and was pulled, so that Marte could get the save, but there was no reason to burn both of them in that inning. YASNY
Cotts never a starter? Damn, you are quick to condemn someone for failure to be lights out as they begin their career. I think Cotts will be a decent starter down the road.

It was one of my favorite Christmas gifts ever about 7 years ago. My friend found it I think in a Mechanics Illustrated mag advertizement, of all places. Yoda
The bullpen did an excellent job. The performances they gave last night should be shown in every other game. Marte has changed in a good way. Just look at how good he did with the Marlins. He struck out about five different batters. He deserved to get the Win, but Politte came into the game giving up the winning run.
