popeye089
Today's game is going to be a real test. Our guys are matched up against one of the greatest pitching duos baseball has ever seen. This is a not only a very obvious offensive test, but we get to compare our new pitching 1,2 punch with the bench mark in baseball. I don't know about you, but I think I would rather have Alomar catch because, I really believe as far as active players go, no one calls a better game than he does. The other way to look at it is I would also rather have Olivio start to gain experience and get to know our staffs quirks in a live situation. That probably is the better way to go, but I would enjoy seeing Alomar and our staff just embarrass Arizona.I just hope that he can pass on that knowledge to Olivio, because Olivio has all the raw talent to be a great catcher. I especially want this since Chicago has a history of great catchers. As far as the winner of this game, you just know it's going be nothing but the South Side Hitmen. zach23
It is only the first game of spring training, don't read too much into it. Most guys are shaking off rust and working on things.
LuvSox
How many pitchers can start at once?
witesoxfan
You're right....today just isn't any game. It is a ST game....meaning it means very little if anything at all....the most it means is that guys are getting ready for the season or are trying to make the big league team. Simple as that. LuvSox....last time I checked...only one. But I'll have to check my sources again
doubleM23
Today's an exhibition game; nothing more, nothing less.
HawkDJ
I just can't believe people are still putting stock in spring training games. They pretty much just are there so pitchers can get prepared for the season and to make the final 25 man roster decisions. Wins or losses mean nothing. Bad pitching performances mean nothing. Especially the first game. And I wouldn't be surprised if Colon bombs on Sunday. He has said he didn't pitch to his fullest on purpose in the intrasquad game and is easing into it. Just a warning before people go crazy. He might pitch well but either way I don't really care.
