Queen Prawn
Good to hear that Wright is still blowing chunks. A.) He ended up with a better record that Garland...what does this say about Garland? B.) This is the first time Olivo caught him And most importantly... IT'S SPRING TRAINING IN ARIZONA - MOST PITCHERS WILL SUCK! Didn't the team suck last ST as well in terms of pitching and then went on to start well ...and then sucked... Cerbaho-WG
Look at Garland's ERA compared to Wright's. Garland has polish, Wright just f***ing sucks.

He ended up with a better record that Garland...what does this say about Garland? I take it we're just going to ignore that ERA .60 higher than Jon's then, right? MurcieOne
Then we should have 10 runs like Arizona does....... No excuses...... guys need to pitch better.......nough said.
witesoxfan
Our guys should pitch better....but I don't put much on ST games....we were terrible W-L wise in ST last year...and we were mediocre in the regular season(and we came out of the gates real well). And this isn't even our full lineup either....we don't have Jimenez or Valentin or Konerko or Lee....can't remember everyone. With our full lineup...we could be a dominant offense. I do hope one thing though...I hope Thomas starts complimenting every pitcher he can think of and calls them a pitcher that will be great with good stuff(like he did Mark Prior last year)....we all know what happened in that matchup last year. MurcieOne
I'll admit that ST games mean nothing, but allowing them to carry absolutely no weight is a loser mentallity. In Ethics we call this a sort of Slippery Slope. So we lose one ST so what? So we lose two? So we lose ten? we lose our first 3 games of the season? so what we have time? before you know it were 10 games back of the Twins and the team is trading Colon, Lee, and Konerko. every opportunity to better ourselves is important, and although this game means nada...... we still need better efforts. Depends on if they are fielding a team designed to win and that is close to the starting roster or if they are fielding a team designed to evaluate talent that won't be on the roster when the season starts. Granted the pitching should be better but it is only the first spring training game. It is way too early to care too much about the results. Cali
Just a little FYI, Mark Buehrle's spring record last year 0-2 with a Slurpee sized 7.11 ERA

clujer420
UGH. Spring Training means NOTHING. The only thing it's good for is to find the occasional diamond in the rough, and to get your players stretched out for the 8 month long season that starts in about 30 days. Pitching our #4, potential #5, our possible long reliever, and a minor leaguer, the Sox aren't concerned with winning. They're concerned with seeing what they're throwing and how they're throwing it. It's not about numbers, it's about how their pitches are working. This game wasn't on TV, so who knows how they looked. It's possible to pitch well and still get rocked. Bottom line -- WHO f***ING CARES? IT'S THE FIRST EXHIBITION GAME.

cwsox
you're right I was wrong, I was counting the intersquad game - been a long day and just came back from sitting with a family and the dying grandfather and all I could think of is we played yesterday and today - the fact that yesterday was an untersquad game escaped my mind - it is only game 1 of ST, nothing to worry about - is that better -
