BrandoFan
one key difference with Borchard == the Whiffs. Until he can cut bcak on that, he's not going to be a very productive player. he doesn't get on base enough. He's a good, but not GREAT outfielder. Doesn't steal many bases. Power is his primary plus. And the whiffs have got to be reduced. The thing that worries me about Borchard is his lack of "eye". Adam Dunn K's a lot but he also draws a TON of walks in addition to hitting for big power. Why oh why can't Borchard be like that? Is his bat that slow? southsideirish
I would like to know the answer to that as well. If anyone here has seen him hit lately then could you please share what you know about the guy. I would appreciate that, thank you very much in advance. Yeah - if he could walk as much as he struck out, plus the power, he could be a very good player. Until that happens, he's a AAAA player. If a deal on the table was Borchard/Rauch for Garcia I'd probably do it. Unfortunately, I don't think it is on the table.
CWSGuy406
Speaking of the Brewers - aboz (this should probably be in the Future's section) - what do you think of the Brewers first pick, Mark Rogers (IIRC?). He's a high school kid, I think, do you think that was a reach there or a good pick?

hammerhead johnson
The thing about Podsednik is that he will steal 60+ bases with less than 10 caught stealing - which is better than, say, Alex Sanchez stealing 50 and getting caught 25 times. Another huge intangible is that Podsedink drives pitches nuts. I saw a Brew Crew game last year where he drew 10 or 12 pick off throws in one inning - in addition to the physical energy expended by the pitcher, it also distrupts his rhythm and negatively affects the quality of the pitches since most pitchers don't do as well out of the stretch. As far as giving up on the prospects too early......Check out Melvyn Mora's numbers before and after turning 30. Scott Podsednik is the man. It's a shame that there are so many great outfielders in the NL, or otherwise, Podsednik might have had a shot at making the All Star team this year. McKeon will add Pierre to the roster for cerain, and then you have Bonds, Berkman, Pujols, Griffey, Cabrera, Alou, etc, etc, etc, etc. The list goes on and on.
