While out of state Sox fans dont get to go to hardly any games and the TV coverage is spotty at best without a dish I still think Chicago area fans have it worse because of the jackasses who follow the Flubbs ( I refuse to call them fans because they dont deserve that title ) are all over the place here.

Ok, here is story. We were in the chat room, and i was being pretty negiitve because we were losing 5-2 and I am sick of getting beat up by Clevland. I really consider last night a loss. Having it tied after having a 8-0 lead is a loss in my book.

Anyway, Minnesota says he was tierd of hearing me b**** about it, and I said he doesnt know what im even talking about, because he doesnt watch this team every night, he is lucky to see 30 games a season. Im sure Minny is a big Sox fan, and im sure he knows ALOT about the team, but you really have to watch this team, and see all the little things, like the missed bunts, and as im typing, the GRAND SLAM just given up by Mike Jackson to understand what the people in Chicago have to watch every night.

:puke

At least you get to watch/go. I can see all the games, but I'd kill to BE at them. even this s***ty game that is now unfolding. Cub jackasses around or not, you can go to the games pretty much whenever you want. I, and alot of others, do not have that luxury. Be thankful.

When they are playing bad, it's real easy to turn off the computer and not think about them. There are a lot of Cub fans all around the country, but it is easy to avoid them out of town.

It sucks when they ae doing well and I know I'd be at a couple games a week, like old times. Calling my old Cub fans and gloating just isn't the same.

I'd say you feel the pain a whole lot harder being in town.

I think that if the Sox are struggling, the Chicago area fans have it worse. They have to put up with all the Cub fan bulls*** and watch the team's failings on a nightly basis.

Conversely, if the team is going great, us out of towners have to be happy with enjoying the Sox successes from an outsider's perspective. I can tell you that I long to be there under any circumstances, but it really tugs on the old heartstrings when the team is going ballistic on the league. I'd love to be there to share and enjoy the excitement with all you "townies".

We had a little argument about the pain of the Sox fan.  Who has it worse... Chicago Area Sox fans or Out of Illinois Sox fans.

Chicago Media Jerk here. The 10 White Sox fans in Chicago have it worse, because there are no White Sox fans outside of the ghetto. *sneer* *sneer*

*sneer*

Well, I spend a little more than 2 months of the season out of town and the rest of the season in Chicago. And honestly they both suck in their own ways, but I personally hate being out of town more. It sucks not being able to watch the games everyday, and I can't afford MLB.TV so I get stuck watching Gameday :P Also, another thing that drives me nuts:

Random Person: So where are you from?

Me: Chicago

Random Person: Oh, Go Cubs!

Drives me crazy! Just cause I'm from Chicago doesn't automatically make me a Cubs fan!!

i dunno it's tough both ways...i just moved back from boston so i have experienced both...it really sucks not being able to watch many games, i remember if there was a sox game on espn or wgn i'd go out of my way to rearrange my schedule to watch it...plus there's everyone assuming, from chicago=cubs fan...but at the same time, nearly all my friends and family here are cubs fans. all in all though, i'd say being able to go to games makes it all worth it - plus in doing that you see how many sox fans there actually are in this city, it's not like everyone makes it out to be, that there are only 150 who watch the sox.

Those of us here in Chicagoland suffer a lot. The Cubs are always the first team shown on the highlights, even if they lost 12-0 and the Sox won 5-4 on a 9th inning grand slam, their fans are everywhere polluting the landscape (much like cockroaches), everyone assumes I'm a Cub fan when I'm on vacation and they ask me where I'm from, the papers in Chi-Town are so biased it's sickening, and I can't turn on sportsradio without hearing about the Cubs.

Plus, people keep ripping our ballpark, even though it's 10X nicer, 10X cleaner, 10X more modern, 10X better, and our true fans are 10X more knowledgable about the game of baseball.

By the way, I spent the last 6 years in college, and trust me, the dumber and stupider students wore Cubs hats and jerseys. The Sox fans were always the better students, and the ones who had a much better future. :headbang

My wife is a Cubs fan, SADLY, (is that grounds for divorce - no, according to the law, *SIGH*), and I've already made it very clear that when we have children in the next couple of years, they will NOT root for or watch the Cubs. She argued and fought with me on that, but I put my foot down. I don't want my kids ending up stupid. My wife's an enigma - a smart person who's a Cubs fan (they do exist, but are as rare as red diamonds), and I want kids who strive to succeed, not kids who strive to be ignorant loser assclowns.

Well, it's really both of the above. Everybody feels like their pain is worse, because it's their pain. I've been watching the Sox for 54 years now, and that Seattle Koch game was the first time I could not sleep all night. You talk about pain....

I was sitting right behind home plate for that game.... rough ride home.
