knightni
I don't know if this has been posted or not. The Bulls now have the #3 and #7 picks in the draft thanks to Phoenix. Bulls get #7 pick Suns get No. 31, future first and cash By Chad Ford ESPN Insider The Phoenix Suns have traded away the No. 7 pick in Thursday's draft to the Chicago Bulls, ESPN.com Insider has learned. In the process, the Suns may be out of the running for Tracy McGrady. The trade, which won't be announced until Thursday, will give the Suns one of the Bulls' second-round picks (No. 31), a future first-rounder and an undisclosed sum of cash in return for the pick. The move is no surprise on one front -- the Bulls have been looking for a second lottery pick. They have had an infatuation with Oregon's Luke Jackson for some time and sources believe Chicago likely will select Jackson with the No. 7 pick. For the Suns, the move is more surprising. Earlier on Wednesday, the Suns were dangling the No. 7 pick, along with Shawn Marion, to the Magic in an effort to land McGrady. However, after the Magic announced that they wouldn't be making a T-Mac trade until after the draft, the Suns grew impatient and agreed to the swap with the Bulls. While Suns sources wouldn't characterize the talks with the Magic as "dead," they claim that they are no longer in active discussions with the Magic for McGrady. Why would the Suns give up a high lottery pick for only a future first-rounder? The Suns didn't feel that any player left at No. 7 would help their team immediately. They also wanted the extra cap space. By getting the No. 7 pick off their books, the Suns are suddenly looking at $16.3 million in cap space this summer to make a run at free agents. The Bulls also included minimum protections on their future first. The pick is protected in the top three in 2005 and as the top pick in 2006. danman31
I just read this and was going to post it. Beat me to it. This basically sucks unless the Bulls plan on using both picks to trade (maybe for the #1?, nah probably not) or just trading the 3 to get a guy. dasox24
Great trade for us! I wonder if we'll use the #3 or #7 now in an Al Harrington trade?

dasox24
Don't worry. The last time we had 2 lottery picks, we picked 2 absolute all-stars: Marcus Fizer and Jamal Crawford!
knightni
Well, they REALLY want Luke Jackson. Maybe they are packaging the #3 in a deal, but want the #7 so they can draft him.

whitesoxin'
I've stopped caring about the Bulls. I was so excited for a playoff run this past season and they sucked.

No way did they have a contending team last year. Not this year either unless they make a HUGE free agency pickup (or 3).

Last year's team was worse than the year before and that was easy to peg when they lost by 25 to Washington on opening night.
Mr. Showtime
Chandler = He Gawn... What a great trade Elton Brand for Chandler turned out to be. I wouldn't be surprised if it was Curry, I think they view him as someone who get in shape and play for the big contract and then go down hill. Chisoxfn
Chandler and the 7 seems like a lot for Harrington. I know he's pretty young though and is supposed to be a heck of a talent. I'd love to see Chandler and the 7 go for Artest.
CubsSuck1
Might be the 7 and JYD OR Pip for Harrington.
