Chisoxfn
One thing everyone shouldn't forget is the fact that Ortiz helped lead the Giants to the world series pretty recently. The guy has pitched in good games, is in his prime, and is basically the ace of the Braves staff (well minus Horacio).
Cerbaho-WG
The Score reported it, so you know it will never happen. If the Score told me the sky was blue on a sunny day, I'd be skeptical

knightni
Ortiz is historically a slow starter. He warms up after the all star break. I think it would be a good deal, unless it involves Rauch or Reed.
Xero
What is going down? So is it going through or is it not known yet?

Guest JimH
Usually, if they do something (trade, release) it is announced not long after the game ends. This team has barely been treading water the last 12-15 games, something has got to give. It's not as simple as missing Maggs either. SuperSteve
I don't know, that Koch trade happened pretty soon after the game... That's what he was saying.
SuperSteve
The deal was done in the 5th inning they said, but they didnt want drama during the game. Course.

NUKE_CLEVELAND
The Score Radio in Chicago is reporting that the White Sox are close to completing a deal that would send Russ Ortiz to the White Sox, and prospects to Atlanta. Stay Posted. I'm so sick of rumors. Wake me up when something actually happens.

Heads22
Biggest thing is to not over pay in this deal if it does happen just because of the fact we're getting a bit desperate.
Guest JimH
The Ortiz trade rumor is now on the front page of the official White Sox site. The RUMOR ... it is not a deal. Yet. It's a little unusual for the official site to have a story on the front page about trade rumors. To me, this lends a little credence to what the Score said. The writer on the Sox website basically repeats what the Score said and credits them as a source. I remember quickman and me talking about the timing of a trade a few weeks ago. We both agreed it would be during this nine game stretch of Cubs-Twins-Cubs. Williams is quoted as saying that making a trade was imperative even before Shoeneweis went on the DL. CWSGuy406
Just got home from the game - sorry, I know this has already been asked, but nothing is official yet? I'll take Russ Ortiz, but I hope that isn't the end all - be all of Kenny's deals, I doubt it would be, but I hope it isn't.
hi8is
that is kinda odd that it is writen about on the white sox homepage
chimpy2121
we need this deal to happen, we really need another starter
hi8is
i wouldnt mind getting Ortiz... only if KW doesnt consider this our big time SP pick up... if we could get Ortiz, Garcia/another good SP, and 2 people for bullpen help... then i would start to think that all of hell froze over and jesus is comming back! if something like this was to happen, KW and JR would score some HUGE points with chicago and its fans
