dasox24
If we were to trade for Moyer, there's no reason to give up anyone that's really that good. I mean, he's 41, probably on his last season, and playing for a crappy team. There's no reason that the Mariners would want to keep him b/c if they did they'd get nothing. So, I would think that they'd accept a couple of mid-level minor leaguers for Moyer since they'll be losing him probably anyway after this year. Of course, there's always a chance that they'd keep him out of respect for what he's done for them.
knightni
i definitely dont want to give up young talent for a 41 year old who's one injury away from retiring, and frankly he'll prolly retire next year anyway regardles........... (totally speculation) but bottom line is young talent should not be given up for a 41 year old pitcher. Moyer lives over here by me near South Bend. I think playing in Chicago, closer to home, would make him reconsider retirement.

Jordan4life_2007
I have no problem with, Ortiz. But I do think Rauch and Anderson/Sweeney is giving up too much. I love Kenny's agressiveness. But they were just talkin about this on the score. That maybe Kenny is so agressive he ends up giving up TOO much.
Iguana
any chance of getting smoltz and turning him back in to a starter?

CWSGuy406
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but can't a prospect not be traded until a year after he was signed? Was Sweeney signed quickly or did it take a while in last year's draft?
aboz56
Ortiz with a 7 inning gem tonight versus Baltimore. If it's a reasonable price, take a chance on him, he's got postseason experience and is a solid #2 guy IMO.

Was Sweeney signed quickly or did it take a while in last year's draft? What they would do is make it a ptbnl. The deal would then be finalized a year after Sweeney signed his contract (a few weeks after short season started last year) and then the Braves would announce the earlier deal with the White Sox has been completed as Ryan Sweeney has been shipped over. DBAHO
No. Unless Reinsdorf was willin to take on an extra 6 million in payroll instead of Ortiz, and we all know the chances of that ever happenin.
