And it isn't just when they're performing on the field. Sure, everyone's in a great mood when he goes 3-for-3, or when he strikes out 10 guys.

Last week, Esteban Loaiza gave up a big lead to the Indians. Later on in extra innnings, Jose Valentin won it for the White Sox on a homer. Who's top-stepping it the whole time in the dugout? Who's the first guy in the scrum when Valentin gets home?

Right, Loaiza.

Most pitchers would be icing their arms, pouting and feeling all sorry about their performance. With this guy, it's all about winning. Who cares what he did? That's a guy you want around.

There's plenty of time to be nice to your opponents in the offseason.

The killer instinct. It's what makes good players great, and great players winners.

Yeah so what are you going to do when you sell the farm to get some rental peices to TRY and make a run and it doesnt happen?

Thats right, the pieces leave and your left with lost talent in the minors..

If the Sox are going to trade away some top prospects with huge upsides they better get some people who are going to perform and that they can keep around..

No Carl Everett, no Robby Alomar..

If Maggs is leaving next year and we trade top prospects to get some rental players to try and win this year and then they all leave and maggs leaves... and then we have lost talent in the minors... we are screwed..

Yeah there are some things that fall under what Kruk said.. but we arent the Astros.. We dont have the pitching, although we are good, but if we put our best three against the Astros best three..... yisa

Ok. We'll continue to finish in second place, five games out for the next 10 years. But, we'll still have our prospects!

Helluva plan

We have a farm system that is deep as hell. If we can get a top starter in here for 1 or 2 of them then how can you not do the deal?

Man,

After watching the Sox play for next year for 30+ years, win while it's in front of you. The minors rebuild in a season or two and prospects are just that prospects.

Another thought, the Marlins basically suck between World Series wins, I would trade 4 or 5 2nd place finishes for 4 or 5 last place finishes and 2 WS wins.
