Possible in house replacements at catcher

We really have none:

Donald Lucy-He's gotta be #1 on the depth soon, but struggling so far

Jon Acevas-maybe

Charlie Lisk-NO

Carlos Lee-NO

Chris Stewart-No

Gustavo Molina-NO

--I really wish we had kept Michael Rivera, who had some very good minor league seasons, he would be an ideal replacement, but we lost him some how. Maybe we can sign Jason Varitek in the off-season, maybe just wishful thinking. Any thoughts?

Worry about the future in the offseason IMO.

No use thinking that far ahead right now.

True, but there are guys out there that can help us out. The Cubs got Barrett last offseason, so I have a reasonable amount of hope that we can find somebody.

I think the staff believes Chris Stewart will ultimately be a great defensive catcher in the bigs, he handles the staff well and he has a great arm too. He has to hit, but I know Rex has mentioned the same thing, so we are hearing this from some of the same folks.

The more I've been reading about Davis the better I feel about him.

He might not have the offensive potential to do why MO can do right now but I don't think .250+ down the stretch wouldn't be too far off.

It seems to me this kid got a raw deal (Think Willie Harris and Aaron Rowand during the Jerry Manuel Era).

Don't get me wrong if we can sign another catcher great but I think that this guy might have the potential to turn things around. Plus he's only our #9 hitter so as long as he gives us solid defense thats all that really counts.
