Yet another piece in the offseason puzzle. We definitely won't keep one of Garcia, Valentin, Maggs and Loaiza. I'm guessin we'll prob lose 2 of em actually.  :o

If thats the case I say bye bye E Lo and Valentin...nice knowing ya but you're outtie. In reality though I am sure Maggs is as good as gone though.

I can't see us resignin both Loaiza AND Garcia, so I think Freddy stays on a 4 year deal around 35 million. Loaiza will sign with someone like Texas on a 2 year deal of about $7 to $8 million with an option year.

Valentin might or might not come back depending if KW thinks Juan Uribe is ready to take over the SS job full time. We'll definitely hav offseason spending money of around $10 to $15 million I'd think, and we should go afta bullpen help, a center fielder and a cheaper starter that we can plug into the back end of the rotation.

I would love to have Mark, Freddy, and Estaban signed for 2 more seasons.

I can't see us investing more than $25 million a season for 3 starting pitchers unless we get an increase in payroll. And u know JR don't like signin starters long term either.

if you build a playoff run.....jerry's money will come

he owns 2 sports teams....he has more money then steinbrenner....he spends about 250,000 for the bulls per year.....if we sell tickets and get the hype goin there will be more money in the organization guarenteed....so its up too us too

Reinsdorf doesn't have more money than Steinbrenner. The Yankees alone are worth more than the Bulls and Sox combined.

If Loiaza continues with a decent year, he could easily be worth 2 draft choices next season, we let Maggs and him both walk after the season we get as many extra picks next year as this year, we need them. I hope we keep Jose and Garcia.

We have a very good established pitcher in Esteban Loaiza. Let him just walk and we are in the same position next year as we have been the last few. Garcia is good and put him in the starting rotation with E LO, Buerhle, Garland and one more from Shoe, Rauch or Diaz and we have one of the best starting pitching stafs in he league. What I fear the most is we let both walk and lose Ordonez too. That's been our history though.

"My preference is I like it here and want to stay here," Loaiza said. "I've never been treated as well in an organization, from Day 1, as I have been here. But as far as negotiating a contract, I haven't heard anything.

"Hopefully we can win a division, and I can stay here for a couple more years. Right now, I'm focused on my pitching. If they need to talk with someone, they can talk to my agent."

I want this guy back next year.

The truth is, the Sox have to go all the way this year before we see some of the guys go in the off season. Go all the way in 2004 and I’m sure us fans will appreciate all you have done. Because we truly have a good offensive lineup and a good pitching staff, but now that you guys mention that Valentin or Esteban may leave, we may not have such a good year next year. So I say the Sox go for it before its too late.

If Elo is willing to sign a contract similar to what Buehrle got then I think he stays.

Personally I think Maggs will probably be gone at the end of teh season and that the Sox will reup with Elo and Garcia. They will then look to add a quality reliever and of course another bat or two (left handed).

I could see them resigning everyone pretty much if this team goes deep in the playoffs and fan support keeps growing. However, I think at the very least Jose Valentin's bat will be replaced by Joe Borchard (who will be playing OF) with Harris and Uribe up the middle and Valdez on the bench as a utility man.

IF KW was smart and knew that Maggs would leave at the end of the season, then he would trade Maggs. Then he'd be able to re-sign E-Lo and Garcia. But I think the Garcia extension will happen during this season.
