Gene Honda Civic
No real surprise to me -- I detailed all of his starts for the Orioles last year. -- My Conclusion??? Garland > Ponson... You wouldn't belive how many people wanted to argue with me about that.
Jordan4life_2007
No doubt about it. Not having the 2 sumo's "Colon" is definitely for the best.

Mathew
I think we could bring up a few Colon and Ponson and some others threads and pass out some told ya so's or told ya nots.
SoxAce
The best signings for pitching are the ones that we don't make. We can see Ponson and Colon fit that bill and not just at the dinner table..
DBAHO
found my post... I should be a GM http://www.soxtalk.com/index.php?showtopic...ndpost&p=220618 Well at least Brando was right when he said he faced 3 great offensive teams.
BrandoFan
Well at least Brando was right when he said he faced 3 great offensive teams. Yep, never a big fan of Ponson's or Colon's for the money they ended up taking. But my mini-crusade (which started around Soxfest) against the two is over - both are such a forgone conclusion at this point. Glad we dodged those swine bullets. knightni
You know... I think Bartolo is fatter than the sumo guy I put his head on.

It was a pretty prevalant theory that after Ponson turned down the O's "final" offer, that they purposefully aligned him against inferior competition to inflate his numbers. knightni
I'll admit.. I wanted Ponson. But he had a good year last year and we needed a 5th starter. Who knew he and Bart would "blow up" pitching and ass sized-wise? Okay, maybe we did know they would blow up ass-wise, but they both had decent years last year. soxman352000
What happened to Ponson he use to be sucha stud. It like all his pitching ability was taken away over the off season.
greasywheels121
I haven't looked at the rest of Ponson's numbers, but some of those could be decent. Freddy Garcia's 4-7 w/ his league-leading 3.20 ERA; sometimes a pitcher's record is overrated. However, the whole Orioles team isn't playing so hot right now. Did anyone catch the game they played on Sunday against Atlanta? The Orioles were up 7-0 in the 8th inning, and lost the game 8-7.

I haven't looked at his peripherals at all, but I doubt they are very good.
witesoxfan
Ok, new pic of the day... Kind of looks like Ponson is getting the best of Bartolo there, eh?
whitesoxin'
I am one of the people who wanted Ponson, I'll admit it. I even drafted him on one of my fantasy teams and he has taken the team down with him... I would have liked to see Colon back, but not for the money he was demanding.
