Freddy Garcia

Speaking of Ben, did anyone see the clip with Garcia walking into the dugout after the 6th and him and Davis were talking.  I don't know if they were mad at each other or if Ben was giving him a big time high five for a job well done.

Considering Davis has caught him for a few years, I thought today would of been as good of a time as any to get Davis behind the plate.

i think the reason sandy caught is because of his success off of radke, davis will probably catch the rest of the season for freddy

I just thought of this, but perhaps this game is bigger then we all think. I mean, this could be a huge confidence boost for Garcia. He goes out and has a s***ty outing(and he'd probably be the first to tell you that), and he comes out with a victory. That tells him he can just go out and pitch and that the offense will bail him out if he makes a mistake.

As I said before...if he were still a Mariner, he would be 4-8 after tonight's performance. Instead, he is 5-7.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say his next outing is awesome. At the very least, a quality start, and I'm thinking even more then that.

Very good points. I said the same thing in another thread. Freddy's run support in Seattle was just over 2 runs per start. It's gotta feel good for him to know that he doesn't have to have the performance of his life everytime out to have a chance to win.

I only am able to see the boxscore since I missed the game, but it looked like he gave up a couple of runs. But we finally showed Freddy what it's like to get run support. Even if he doesn't have his best stuff on a certain night, we can show him that we're still able to win the game.

Sandy said that Garcia needs to throw more fastballs and attack the hitters more. I think they'll get him into attack mode very soon. He'll have confidence that he can attack and if he gives one up, it won't cost him the game.

im pretty damn sure that Freddy will pitch a GREAT game next time... check out this years historical evidance:

april 14th: 6.0 13 5 5

april 19th: 7.0 3 0 0

may 18th: 6.0 7 5 5

may 23rd: 7.0 4 1 1

every other start has been under 4 runs

prior to today, he had only given up 8 home runs

so boys and girls, looks like the Garcia we saw today was at his worst (damn good worst if u ask me)

I was thinking that through the first 4 innings where he k'd 8 out of the first 12 we had Cy Young, but I was glad to see he wants to fit in with the other starters by giving up 3 homers.

Really I think we saw a glimpse through those 4 innings of some special talent. Maybe he was just trying to hard or that Guzman got lucky and Freddie threw a hanger.

in seattle freddy probably felt he had to be perfect to even have a chance at winning..here heknows if he gives up a 3 run dinger he still gets the W...as time goes on and he settles in i think he will realize he doesnt have to be perfect and this should make him more agressive in going after hitters...

I think Garcia pitched well today, I think he was extremely pumped up for the game and he wore himself down quicker than he usually does.

Also, Jose should have gotten an out on that error play, and a man on second with that extra out is a whole lot different.

I LOVED how he didn't walk anybody, he had a three run lead and he was going to make the Twins earn a tie, not give it to them

I was extremely happy and really looking forward to Freddy's next start

9 punch-outs are a lot if you ask me. A season high (tied with Loaiza) in his first appearance with the Sox was big. I hope Esteban can get his strikeout count going up because he really hasn’t had that many K’s. You look at last year and he was making batters look stupid.

I say Garcia looks like the Esteban of last year. We all know that White Sox pitchers aren’t strikeout pitchers, but with Garcia around, he’ll put the Sox in a positive side.

Garcia: 91 k

Buehrle: 88 k

Loaiza: 65 k

Schoeneweis: 54 k

Garland: 51 k

I heard an interview of someone from Seattle (newspaper), that last couple of years Garcia has lost focus when a play is not made behind him. The guy did say that Garcia improved on that issue this year.

Garcia probably is just pressing to impress his teammates. Bet he was surprised to get a lot of run support.

I thought he was pitching well. I didn't have too much of a problem with the other two homers, he almost had to lay that one in there to Mauer, and Koskie hit a low fastball on the outer half. Things just didn't go his way in the 5th. The hit LeCroy got was pure luck. It was a nasty curve on the outer half out of the zone, and he just poked the bat out there and got lucky. Mauer did the same thing on a fastball away the next hitter, and Jose booted it trying to get the double play. I didn't think the pitch he threw to Guzman was that bad a pitch. Yes, it was a slider higher than he wanted it, but that ball looked like it might have hit Guzman in the arm if he didn't swing. He got around on it really well. Overall, I thought nice start, would have been great if things have gone his way in the 5th. That seems to happen to Sox pitchers a lot recently, like Garland against the Cubs and Loaiza against Cleveland. All of them dominated through 4 and couldn't pitch over some trouble in the 5th.
