Butter Parque
In the ninth inning, up by 4 runs against the twins. Why doesn't Ozzie just save Shing, who pitched yesterday for tommorow if we need him in a save situation. I think i have seen action jackson come in more times then adkins who has been one of our best relievers. In order for him to get better, he needs more experience. C'mon Ozzie, start to use the kid. All you gotta do is go back to 2001. I remember we had a 4-1 lead going into the 9th. We bring in Keith Foulke and he chokes it away. No lead is ever safe in that s***hole. I'm glad Ozzie took no chances.
SnB
this is the twins, they seem to comeback at will. Put in shingo, make it easy on everyone. Jeez, some people will find anything to complain about.
Butter Parque
You know what if he put Adkins in and he chocked the lead, (which I doubt he would have) then you know he cant be trusted, we already know that Jackson can't be so whats wrong with Adkins and his sub 3 ERA. Shing go gave up a run anyway.
BrandoFan
I was at the game. It was against NY. That game cost us the entire season. It was the turning point. No, he means the infamous August game in Metrodome. It was the height of Manuel-Ball: Sox had a s***-load of baserunners and yet only scored a few runs because everyone was lifting a deep FO, after deep FO, after right-at-em line-out.......2004 Sox would have found a way to blow the Twins out, but those goons only had a 4-1 lead in the 9th - hell they had an inning where despite 3 hits, they scored NO runs. That was the year when Foulke was 42 for 45 in save situations..... So he comes back in and Twins just choke him to death with blooping singles and infield dribblers - Konerko's range and inability to bend for the ball cost the Sox at least 2 outs. Then some Twin scrub (Hocking?) steps in with the game tied and smokes a 3-run GW homer to RF. The last bit of hope Sox had (that 14-29 start didn't help) went right out of the window with that game. They were doner than done.
Butter Parque
I like Adkins and I thinks he should just get a few more chances to prove how good he is.

That game was a blast up to that point. :puke

OK - we all like Adkins, but you're not getting the point. You don't take a chance in Minny. It's your divisional foe, you go with your closer, your most sure thing you got. Don't toy with the devil. greg775
I think he would have in any other series but this one, because he didn't want anything stupid to happen and the twins come back to win. EXACTLY! Dat's the reason. Oz doesn't want to f*** around at this point in time, til we make sure we are going to fly high the rest of the way. Oz is going by his gut, too, which is nice and what he promised after Mr. Disaster (Koch) was finally traded.

Let Adkins continue his role as mop-up/stat padder extroadinaire when the division lead IS NOT at stake You're logic of leaving Adkins in to essentially witness whether or not he holds the lead is comedic. May I remind of you Jose Peniagua? No matter which role players the Twins have lost to free agency, the team has continually (against the Sox) stolen wins. While tomorrows game holds importance, it was absolutely essential of the Sox to guarantee their exit from Minnesota was in a tie for first. Shingo/Marte remove the unneccesary drama which is bound to follow the tail end of the bullpen. With today's win, the pressure is entirely on the shoulders Minnesota. YASNY
I agree. Against the best, you have to go with your best. No need in taking a chance on them pulling one out of thier ass and swinging the momentum to them for the next two weeks. While you got down on the ground, stomp the hell out of them. Kapisch?
