What the hell?

Can't they handle a little rain up there? We finally get to their crappy ass bullpen, had the beginnings of a rally, and they call the freaking game?

This is further proof to my theory that Tom Skilling controls the weather. Tom Skilling works for the Tribune company. The Tribune company owns the Cubs. Cubs needed some help fending off a Sox rally, so Skilling send armageddon in a rain cloud.

Damn that man! Damn, Damn, Damn!!!

I take it I'm not the only one that just got back from a 4th of july getaway and needed to rant about all the crap we saw this weekend huh?

I watched the entire game last night, almost cried at the end, was terrible.

Same thing for me. I only saw Sunday's game and was shocked. It was the only game I saw out of all 6 this year and it was just hard to watch. Carlos almost saved the day, but then out two best relivers couldn't even throw a strike. It just proved to me why IBB are stupid. Never give the other team a free base, especially in an NL ballpark.

The Sox would then lose the game because the Cubs did not get to bat.

no, if the game were suspended, it would continue from that point

what happened was legal under baseball rules

in 1999 we won the Friday or Saturday game at Wrigley in a rain shortened game and damn cub fans were pissed off

sometimes it goes your way, sometimes the other way

this time it did not go our way like it did last time

Yeah, but with the way Jose was turning DP's on Friday (Dusty Baker said what he and Uribe did was as good a twin killing under pressure as he's seen in the league), you had to take that chance. It's not as if you had weak-armed David Eckstein or Craig Counsell there. And last time I checked, Joe Crede and Harris are pretty good at turning DP as well.

Cubs had a GAME WINNING run at 2B. A DP or a force play HAD to be set up. I mean, unless you had Sean Casey on deck after Martinez.......

Who knew Shingo would be scared to death of Ramon Martinez's bat?

Or that Damasso couldn't throw an 0-2 breaking ball to a left-handed hitter to save his life.

As soon as Shingo fell behind 2-0 and Alou hit that single, I had a bad feeling about the inning - witnessing 8 innings of corpseball prior to that point didn't help either.

The problem was that it wasn't called for rain (from what I read and being that it didn't rain until almost 11 that night after the last bout of rain at about 4ish) it was called because the field was unplayable.

Whatever, they lost and it sucked, but they will survive and go on to win other series. :)

Come on everyone knows Jerry Taft controls the weather...

Maybe he's a cub fan.

Yeah I know that we had to set up the DP and play the percentages, but when you need two more outs to push the game into extra innings, you should just go out and pitch to them. It was 7 and 8 in the lineup IIRC and if you are afraid of the Cubs 7 hitter you are in trouble. I was just so pissed last night....

An intentional walk was the right move to make in that situation. You've got your best reliever on the mound and and reliever 1A warmed up in the bullpen. No brainer. It just didn't work out. That's baseball.
