Uribe has noone to blame but himself. 2 weeks ago he had an OPS some 80 points higher than Soriano, and his defense was superior as well. He "deserved" to go to the ASG more than Soriano did. But now after his big slump? They're neck in neck, so Soriano's history should give him an edge. Shingo not making it is KW's fault - should have cut the losses with Koch long time ago. Harvey and Ortiz are fine over Frank and Konerko, but its crap that Jeter and Giambi are in. I will say this, I think Torre did a pretty poor job. Elo was the 3rd best pitcher on this staff. Buehrle was better with the Sox and Garcia has been better all year. I could make a case that Garland (whose had some tough luck) has been one of the Sox best pitchers, possibly better then Elo). If beltran isn't traded pauly or frank are in this game. But because kc needs a player to go it basically had to be harvey, kc doesn't have any other players that are even close to all star caliber this year. Konerko: The White Sox are on pace to break franchise records for homers, doubles, runs and slugging percentage, and they lead the Majors with 5.72 runs per game. Here's a big reason for it. Konerko was hitting .276 with 20 homers and 54 RBIs through 72 games, compared to .183 with four homers and 18 RBIs at the same stage last season. He was not on the All-Star ballot because Thomas was listed at first base and there is no DH in an NL park. So far he has two doubles in two All-Star at-bats (a lone 2002 selection), and it's up to fans this week whether he steps in again. Thomas: Of course, here's another big reason the White Sox were leading the Majors in slugging percentage and leading the AL Central through Saturday. The Big Hurt is the club's all-time home run leader with 436, and before anyone starts talking about his 500 Home Run Club chances, it's time to talk about whether he goes to a sixth All-Star Game -- and his first since 1997. The program gives baseball fans around the world the opportunity to select the final position player on each All-Star team. Balloting continues for 26 hours and ends tomorrow, Wednesday, July 7 at 8:00 pm EDT. The final players on each team will be announced at 9:00 pm EDT. The voting remains very close in both leagues. In the American League, Hideki Matsui of the Yankees leads Frank Thomas of the White Sox and his team mate, Paul Konerko, who are virtually tied for second, followed by Lew Ford of the Twins and Travis Hafner of the Indians.
