Joe Torre is such a f***ing douchebag. He is so friggin retarded. I just got home and saw that none of MB, Frank, Koney, Shingo, and Uribe made it? What the hell? I already knew Torre was a f***ing scrub but this is ridiculous. Does he even bother to watch other teams? What horsehit. And we know Thomas wont make it anyways. He's up against Matsui and a teammate. He and Koney will split votes and Matsui will get everyting from Japan

:fyou Torre

And Harvey is better than Paul Konerko how again....?

Uribe has noone to blame but himself. 2 weeks ago he had an OPS some 80 points higher than Soriano, and his defense was superior as well. He "deserved" to go to the ASG more than Soriano did.

But now after his big slump? They're neck in neck, so Soriano's history should give him an edge.

Shingo not making it is KW's fault - should have cut the losses with Koch long time ago.

Buerhle lost his chance when he bombed against Montreal and Cleveland.

Frank got robbed by Giambi.

Guys, Belliard has been a lot better then Uribe this season. Harvey and Ortiz are fine over Frank and Konerko, but its crap that Jeter and Giambi are in.

I will say this, I think Torre did a pretty poor job. Elo was the 3rd best pitcher on this staff. Buehrle was better with the Sox and Garcia has been better all year. I could make a case that Garland (whose had some tough luck) has been one of the Sox best pitchers, possibly better then Elo).

Harvey isn't as good as pauly but unfortunately the royals need a representative. If beltran isn't traded pauly or frank are in this game. But because kc needs a player to go it basically had to be harvey, kc doesn't have any other players that are even close to all star caliber this year.

It is fitting how we get screwed in by the fan voting and then the manager selection, and then they decide to put two Sox on the final ballot going up against a Japenese Yankee. All the Yankees fans and Japenese people versus Sox fans who have to vote for two guys. :headshake

Wow...read this blip about Konerko and Frank...I'm really impressed about the last stat on Franklin.

Konerko: The White Sox are on pace to break franchise records for homers, doubles, runs and slugging percentage, and they lead the Majors with 5.72 runs per game. Here's a big reason for it. Konerko was hitting .276 with 20 homers and 54 RBIs through 72 games, compared to .183 with four homers and 18 RBIs at the same stage last season. He was not on the All-Star ballot because Thomas was listed at first base and there is no DH in an NL park. So far he has two doubles in two All-Star at-bats (a lone 2002 selection), and it's up to fans this week whether he steps in again.

Thomas: Of course, here's another big reason the White Sox were leading the Majors in slugging percentage and leading the AL Central through Saturday. The Big Hurt is the club's all-time home run leader with 436, and before anyone starts talking about his 500 Home Run Club chances, it's time to talk about whether he goes to a sixth All-Star Game -- and his first since 1997. Thomas was hitting .275 with 18 homers and 49 RBIs, and had reached base in 34 of his last 35 starts and 66 of 70 overall.

Just letting you guys know: Over at WSI, they've set up sort of a partnership with the Philly fans - they vote Thomas, we vote Abreu. So - it's the Philly Fans/Sox Fans/Possibly the Red Sox Fans/Baseball Smart people/Computer Geeks who really like Thomas vs. Japan/NY Nation/Cubbie Nation/Anyone pro-Yankee.

Good because Abreu has been one of my favorites since the time immemorial (read: 1999).

Does this mean Cub fans are voting for Matsui?

That's what I have been doing. Abreu has had a good year and deserves it. I feel Phillie fans pain because they are in first place too and only have one representative.

NEW YORK -- Voting continues in the Ameriquest 2004 All-Star Final Vote Program on MLB.com, the official website of Major League Baseball, ESPN.com and MSN.com with over 5 million votes cast during the first two days.

The program gives baseball fans around the world the opportunity to select the final position player on each All-Star team. Balloting continues for 26 hours and ends tomorrow, Wednesday, July 7 at 8:00 pm EDT. The final players on each team will be announced at 9:00 pm EDT.

The voting remains very close in both leagues.

In the American League, Hideki Matsui of the Yankees leads Frank Thomas of the White Sox and his team mate, Paul Konerko, who are virtually tied for second, followed by Lew Ford of the Twins and Travis Hafner of the Indians.

In the National League Aramis Ramirez of the Cubs and Bobby Abreu of the Phillies are in a dead heat for first, followed by Jason Kendall of the Pirates, Steve Finley of the Diamondbacks and Juan Pierre of the Marlins.
