We should support Loaiza

I know we were all shocked to see the 32-year-old right-hander having to go to the All-Star. He is the lone representative for the White Sox and every fan should support him whether they agree with the selection or not.

Loaiza, who had an outstanding 21-9 record with a 2.90 ERA last year, hasn’t really been the same. Many say everything was just a fluke. But I say pitching is no fluke. He still has the second half to improve. He has enough time to lower that ERA and give the Sox at least more than 15 wins. We can’t always ask for another 21 winner, 2 years in a row. To me it’s just impossible.

I’ve been reading that Esteban has worked very hard to turn back to the same chapter as last year. The strikeout totals are down at 68, and his 18 home runs allowed are one more than he gave up during the entire 2003 season. Loaiza is still getting the job done currently for the AL Central title contenders. He has an 8-4 record, moving him within two victories of 100 for his career, and a 4.37 ERA in 17 starts.

The All-Star, which takes place in Houston on 7/13, will be Esteban’s second trip to an All-Star Game.

Having high hopes that with his presence in a big game, it will give him a big boost for the second half. May be he can realize that he still has the stuff to win 20 games or so. I don’t know, but I do have a feeling that he will turn it around after having to go to the All-Star. And like I said, all us White Sox fans need to support Esteban. He is the only one wearing a White Sox jersey and I’m sure he’ll give his best to make this team look good.

This one is for you Esteban :cheers

part of estaban's , and buehrle's problem is the ballppark , with the roof chopped off and the cut outs in the upper deck wall have changed it into a fair park to coor's east...since it warmed up a little the ball has been flying out of the park...when carlos lee hit that homer off the end of a broken bat that stayed just inside the RIGHT field foul pole i knew there was a problem...

there is a reason why our team is on pace to wipe out our single season homer record..and it aint steriods

He gets no love from me for losing to the Cubs on Friday.

Should have picked another team to lose to and shut the Cubbies down instead.

I'm not impressed with Loaiza's performance Friday either, but you're not going to win much when you score a whopping 5 runs in 3 days.

He holds the Cubs down while up 2-0 and chances are Sox put a few more runs on the board.

Zambrano is much tougher when you have to come back from a 4-2/5-2 deficit. When you're ahead and things aren't going his way, that's when you get to him - just as Sox did at USCF.

And, of course, if Sox win Friday's game, I guarantee you they would have won at least 1 of the remaining 2 - there would be virtually no pressure on Felix Diaz OR Sox hitters since even if they lose both, they still split the season series.......Lack of "must win" pressure is always an athlete's friend. :headbang

That's what got me so pissed off at Esteban. He pitched a very mediocre game last Sunday but offense and luck bailed him out. If he pitches like he did against the Marlins on Friday, Sox most likely win and in all likelyhood take 2 out of 3 from the suddenly-desperate Cubs.

I'm done with Loaiza. I feel better going into a game with Garland then Loaiza.  Am I crazy?

Nope. Said the same thing on the other thread.

I still support him and hope to see the 2003 Loaiza, but I'm not too hopeful.

I am glad that he was our only all-star. It's tough to explain, but I think there's a better feeling within this group as a unit when all of our real stars were left off the list this year.
