quade36
I was asked by a friend about what trades I think KW will pull. I thought about it and came up with this as a shocker. Baltimore needs outfield help as I am sure they can't rely on Matos and Bigbie and the numbers they are putting up. They have two 2B, and it seems that they are happy with Roberts. Harris is not reliable, at least to this point. I think this trade would be great for the sox. It would be Julio Cruz all over again!!! What do you guys think??? Chisoxfn
Are the Sox really in the market for a 2nd baseman now? I figure Harris/Uribe have been doing a good job thus far and they will likely keep it up to a point. Actually I wish Harris was playing more because he's a very good player, imo. southsider2k5
Aren't the O's looking to deal Roberts instead?
Guest JimH
Interesting idea. I mentioned in another thread how it wouldn't shock me if a veteran 2B was brought in. KW and Ozzie like Willie Harris but it's not working out as well as they hoped. Don't know if they'd pull the trigger on a deal but it could happen. My guess is they'd try to pick up a no-strings veteran on the cheap. Yes, I know there are lots of pro's and cons with R. Alomar, but a guy like that. A telling tale: Hawk said last night Harris doesn't have the confidence to try and steal. Guillen says that's one big reason Harris is here. Guillen has little patience. Put the pieces together and maybe they'll do something. Hairston is from Naperville, there is of course the connection with his dad who manages Bristol, and the Sox either drafted Jerry Jr. or his brother a few years ago but couldn't get him signed. Personally, I think Hairston Jr. is a better player than Harris.
witesoxfan
I like having Rowand over Hairston. Rowand's a decent hitter, has good range in the OF, and has a pretty damn good arm. I think the guy we should get is Robbie Alomar. He'd cost us practically nothing, and would be a good veteran prescence to have on the bench and in the lineup. southsideirish
Then what would we do in CF? I like Rowand out there and he is out best option. It would be nice to have a guy like Hairiston leading off, but I think Uribe is just fine at 2b. Harris is a little too streaky for me. winninguglyin83
heard ozzie say last night after the game that he's going to give Harris a couple of games to get it going. the implication was that if he keeps struggling until the all-star break, he's pulling the plug. I like Hairston -- and he's got to be a Sox fan, considering his father and (I believe) his grandfather (Sam) were with the team.
baggio202
im not a big rowand fan but he is the closest thing we have to a real CF..timo plays the outfield on the warning track...i hate that..im not sure about this trade either way since im not that familiar with hairston but i hink a trade for a legit CF would have to be made before this trade could happen
