Jordan4life_2007
With the loss tonight, assuming the Cardinals hold on to their lead against the, Reds. They will fall to SIX gms behind, St. Louis. Add to that they have a 3 gm series coming up in their dreaded house of horrors, Busch stadium. If the Cards do what they normally do to the Slubs at home the only chance they might have of making the playoffs is by the wildcard. Jordan4life_2007
If we had won the last 4 of 5 or something, this thread would be cool/funny, whatever, but we got our own problems right now if you havent noticed so I say we worry about our own s*** right now. And that's why I started this thread in the SPORTSBAR. I've already bashed the Sox plenty in Palehose talk. Now it's time to bash the, Slubs. WSoxShuf
Hard to bash the Cubs when our team is playing like little pussies.

witesoxfan
The Twins were 7.5 back at the ASB last year. One trade later, they are celebrating their 2nd consecutive AL Central title. The Cubs are in essentially the same position. They have a weaker team in front of them in the standings, but have not gotten it going yet. If the Cubs get going, the Cards are f***ed. The Cardinals are weaker than last year's Royals? LOL. I don't think so. If the Cards have an 8 gm lead or better by the all-star break "which is very possible" they're in damn good shape. They're pitching has been outstanding and Matt Morris isn't even pitching as well as he can. They have without a doubt the best everyday line-up in the national league, a deep bench, a solid bullpen. Add to that they're argubly the best defensive team in the league. The Cards have a pretty high payroll. But now that they've proven they're a legit contender who's to say management doesn't go out and try and improve the team by the deadline? If they get another solid starter they could be the team to beat in the national league. However. I'm not sayin the the Slubs r dead. They have everybody back except for, Wood. But as you can see with, Prior. It's not that easy comin back from an injury and pickin right up where you left off. I don't care how talented they are. If they dig too big a hole their only chance at the playoffs will be the wild card. And that could be a dog fight.
Steff
We went to Miller park last night... the best part was the crying fans in the parking lot afterwards. Funny stuff.

Rowand44
I think the Cardinals are for real now.... Let's hope I'm right. There for real. The one thing that can happen is Chris Carpenter breaking down, since he hasn't pitched this much in a long time.
Jordan4life_2007
I think the Cardinals are for real now.... Let's hope I'm right. Coming into the season everybody knew the Cards had a great offense, a great defense, and a solid pen. The question was, Did they have enough pitching after, Morris? I think that question has been answered and then some. Carpenter has been their best starter. Suppan and Marquis have been very good. Woody Williams is starting to pitch like he did last year. Add to that, Morris has yet to fully pitch like he's capable. I still think that they're gonna go out and get another quality starter before the deadline just to be safe. If they do that. The nl central race is pretty much over.

If the flubs don't win the next two the division is over, imo. Being down 7 games at the break with no games left with the cards, they'd be done in the central. Rowand44
They have no games left with the Cards after this series? I'm pretty sure, not positive. If they have any games left with them it's one series but I think they're done. I'll go look it up.

They have one more two game series with them the 20th and 21st of July, so they're done with them before august, so they're still in a ton of trouble if they don't win these next two. Well, I guess that's better for the, Cards.
