IlliniKrush
During the Score update, it was reported that Thomas told George Offman that he could be headed to the DL.

SoxFan562004
If Thomas goes on the DL we HAVE to promote Borchard and put him in at full time DH, or in RF if that means Maggs can come back sooner and just DH. It's time for Borchard to show what he can do at the ML level, and I can't stand to see Jamie Burke DH anymore

If you're not going to trade somebody, trade value is unimportant!
IlliniKrush
Maggs could be activated tomorrow to play DH if Thomas ends up going on the DL. George Offman is reporting this live from the park, and now Ozzie is talking about it. Oh and now they are saying he could go under the knife and have arthroscopic surgery. s***. Al Lopez Ghost (old)
George Offman just said if Frank goes on the DL, then Maggs will be activated and DH starting Friday. ALso said Frank could have arthoscopic surgery if the shot doesn't help. Bone chips are the problem.
maggsmaggs
If Thomas goes on the DL, they will activate Magglio Ordonez and let him DH. Frank might also have to arthoscopic knee surgery. --You just beat me in the typing
The Beast
Is Thomas' injury a knee problem? I didn't know that this happened. So thats why he's been struggling. Yeah, Burke at DH isn't a smart idea, but neither is Gload. Call up Borchard and activate Magglio or I may have to hit the panic button. BrandoFan
Any other great news? Suppose this be the best time to inform us of Buerhle's torn labrum? Esteban Loiaza and his tendonitis? Freddy's 3rd drum fell out, you say? Great. Don't forget about Paulie's hip and Jose's hamstring. Could go at any time. Jaimme Burke as a clean-up hitting DH has a ring to it. IlliniKrush
I don't really understand the whole "well if thomas is hurt, surely maggs is fine to play" mentality. Maggs coming back to the lineup should have no bearing on what is going on with Frank's ankle. Now, i understand that you really really really need a bat in there if Thomas goes down...but if Maggs isn't completely ready, is it worth the risk to play him at DH a few games before the all star break? There are a lot of what ifs here, but i don't see how Kenny jumps from Thomas hurt > Maggs plays now. Wouldn't he play now whether or not Thomas was hurt, if he was ready? I just hope this doesn't hurt him

IlliniKrush
Good point, that slipped my mind. Though i hope this doesn't mean any Gload appearances in right field... Why not Borchard though?
EvilJester99
AM 1000 just said Maggs is reinstated and sent Diaz down to make room. Maggs is available for pitch hitting.

Cali
Borchard wasn't called up when Maggs went on the DL (neither did Reed) so there is no doubt in my mind that if Thomas were to go on the DL that Borchard would still not get called up and the Gload/Perez platoon would continue. Well with Maggs out you still had enough power in the lineup that you didn't have to bring up Borchard if you didn't want to. With Maggs AND Thomas out (hypothetically, since maggs is up), and a super-struggling lineup, it would be nice to have some power in the lineup in the presence of Borchard. winninguglyin83
calling Borchard up is one thing. getting Borchard to produce is another thing. 9 runs in six games suggests we need a live bat -- and we need one soon.
Wedge
I'd rather see Rowand in the line-up everyday while Frank is out. He could split time at CF, RF, and DH. I'd love to see us make a play for DelGado if Frank is done.

I just hope this doesn't hurt him The Sox have been crusing along at a .500 pace and when it appears we will get Maggs and Frank back in the line up together than the Big Hurt gets injured. I think he has had this foot problem for quite sometime and a hitter needs a good healthy body to hit with power. If Frank can't push off or dig in right becasue of a bad foot it will affect his hitting for sure. If he goes on the DL it just puts us back in the same position as when Maggs was hurt. I think Borchard needs to be called up right now or get another bat off the bench (I'm thinking Stairs from KC, but something a little better would be nice)
