DBAHO
My bad. I thought you were suggesting him. Benito and the 'roid allegations just don't sit well with me. That doomed Marvin Benard's career with the Sox as well.
beck72
That doomed Marvin Benard's career with the Sox as well. I would have taken a one legged Joe Borchard over a healthy Benard this spring. I don't think a beefed up Santiago in his late 30's and him having been in SF the last few years are unrelated.
CWSGuy406
We would not have to worry about adding a catcher if we did not include Olivo in that trade. But we have Ben Davis. And had we not made the trade we'd be worrying about aquiring another top starter. Life goes on without Olivo and Reed.
hammerhead johnson
I mentioned Greg Zaun back in June on the strength of his 850 OPS vs. RHP and his defensive capabilities. Defense is what has kept him in this league for what seems like forever (damn near ten years). He can do some things with the bat all of a sudden, but maybe it's just that park up there in Toronto, as Greg Myers hit damn near .310 last year with a s***load of ABs. As far as Catalanato is concerned, people on soxtalk have been talking about acquiring that guy ever since we got swept up there in that hellhole in Toronto. baggio202
Current Stats (from Yahoo! with season-to-date player rank): Dan Wilson - Rank: 619, .269 avg, 2 HR, 24 RBI, 11 runs, .666 OPS, .998 F%, 0 SB Jason Varitek - Rank: 312, .272 avg, 9 HR, 31 RBI, 34 runs, .806 OPS, .996 F%, 5 SB Einar Diaz - Rank: 860, .194 avg, 0 HR, 4 RBI, 4 runs, .519 OPS, .992 F%, 0 SB Henry Blanco - Rank: 682, .191 avg, 4 HR, 15 RBI, 17 runs, .588 OPS, .994 F%, 0 SB Kelly Stinnett - Rank: 1051, .305 avg, 3 HR, 7 RBI, 10 runs, .837 OPS, .971 F%, 0 SB Damian Miller - Rank: 399, .302 avg, 7 HR, 37 RBI, 21 runs, .828 OPS, 1.000 F%, 0 SB Mike Matheny - Rank: 635, .253 avg, 2 HR, 23 RBI, 13 runs, .652 OPS, 1.000 F%, 0 SB Jason Kendall - Rank: 272, .308 avg, 2 HR, 30 RBI, 46 runs, .758 OPS, .991 F%, 7 SB Obviously, Kendall overall looks the best. He's got speed and a good arm behind the plate. Outside of Kendall, who I think might be too expensive for us, Jason Varitek looks great. He's got power, some speed, gets on base, and is good behind the plate. Matheny might be ok or Stinnett. Miller looks good too. any of those guys would be an upgrade

AngelasDaddy0427
Seriously why aren't we willing to let Davis at least start a few games before we declare him hopeless. I mean he can't be any worse then Burke.

The Beast
Greg Zaun and Frank Catalanotto. Especially if Frank is going to be out for an extended amount of time. Catalanotto is the perfect #2 hitter and Zaun would be an upgrade over everyone the Sox currently have. I don't think it would take too much to get these guys. What do you think? Catalanotto, no. We have Borchard, Anderson, Lee, Sweeney, Ordonez, Rowand and Perez. The Sox are set there. Zaun, yes. But honestly, what do you trade for him? A can of tennis balls? I don't think we can trade anyone for him.
