Questions about Shingo Takatsu

Recommended Posts

This guy impressed the heck out of me when he pitched the top of the 9th in last night's game. His mechanics, his control, and the movement on his pitches, I can't say I've ever been that interested in every single pitch like that. How high on are you guys on Takatsu? What are his contract terms? Is he signed to a multi-year deal with you guys? What do you think the Sox would be asking in return in a trade for him? ...or is he untouchable?

Do you guys need any better arms in the bullpen? A LH specialist? ;) If not, we've got prospects to deal too. I would love to have Takatsu on the M's in 2005, if not for anything more than just being able to watch him pitch every couple of days. And if we kept Hasegawa around, they're friends, so I think he'd fit in well here. Just a thought. If any of this is out of line, I apologize, but in the least I'd like to say that it seems like he's one heck of a pitcher. And have fun sweeping the M's this weekend by the way :P

We're pretty high on him. He's our closer and one of few reliable bullpen options that we have. There's absolutely no way that we would trade him. Oh, and he's 35 years old, so I doubt that you'd really want him since it seems to me like you're kind of rebuilding.

He's untouchable, I believe he's making $750,000 or $1,000,000 this year and we hav an option on him for next season at $2.5 million. You don't mind if we take Everyday Eddie off your hands either.

A closer for a closer. Guardado wouldn't be a big downgrade from Takatsu. Guardado, a reliable lefty reliever (Villone--who doubles as a solid starter--or Mike Myers), and maybe a B prospect or two (have Mike Morse back ;) ). Are there any positions your team lacks depth in? We more or less have pretty good prospects at just about any position. Just trying to gauge what it would take to get this guy. I hope he pitches at least one more time in this series again. :)

Shingo no go.

In fact, we've speculated on the possibility of acquiring Hasagawa. That would set our bullpen up nicely. But yes, we'd take Guardado off yours hands too. I mean really, what do the M's need with a closer?

Well in any case, I enjoy watching the guy pitch. He's a real talent, and I hope he keeps it up for you guys. (good luck with Freddy too, by the way)

thanks, and make sure to come back to SoxTalk if we do trade for Eddie or Hasegawa, so you can find out about the prospects you'd be getting. It's always nice to have other fans that are serious and don't spam. :cheers

Come back anytime. You and a couple of others who have visited have represented the M's fans very well. :cheers

And you didn't even see him at his best, his control is usually better and when he's throwing that frisbee inside on RH hitters he's made them look awful.

There's no chance we're trading him any time soon, we are however in the market for another BP arm.
