CubsSuck1
The crowd gave Magglio a stand ovation before his first at bat yeasterday, and I can't say that he deseved it. He has continuously turned down offers from the Sox and it is clear that if we gave him what he wanted, he would be overpaid. He's no Vlad Guerrero, and he does not deserve as much money as him, especially on a team with a lower payroll. If it is true that he wants to play here that bad, he would understand that we dont have that much cash to give him, and if we were to pay him $14 mil a season, the surrounding team would suffer, and we would not be able to give money to other good players that could help Maggs win a WS ring. He pissed me off a lot over the time that he was injured because of how he made negotiations public. However, it is also clear that Maggs is one of the best players on the Sox, and he really is a special player. The Sox sucked a lot without him in the lineup, and I'm glad to have him back. Also, if we want to resign him, we should atleast give him the royal treatment whle he's here, and maybe he'll reconsider about signing with us. Giving him hostility will only make him want to leave more. Maybe he can understand that he is a fan favorite heer, and if he left to paly someplace else, nothing is guarenteed, and if he does not live up to their expectations, he will not be as respected and treated as well as he was here, and things have the potential to turn ugly for him. I don't know what to think anymore...

Dick Allen
If he signs with the Sox, great, if he doesn't, the Sox will find someone else. 1.5 games out of first, just concentrate on this season, leave all the other crap for November. CWSGuy406
The complexion of this team is just so different with Maggs in the lineup. I know I've been one of the people pretty adament on not resigning Maggs on a 65 million dollar payroll, but my mind is changing, in a way. Our team is just so much better with Maggs in the lineup. I just don't know anymore, and I'm glad that I'm *not* in Kenny's shoes right now. He has a tough six month stretch coming up, but a lot of that can be solved by a winning team. As for giving a standing O for Maggs - regardless of the contract situation, I will always cheer Maggs the loudest. He's that good of a player. NUKE_CLEVELAND
Until I see Maggs in a different uniform, I will clap till my hands fall off for him. That's the right attitude. We need to be cheering on our players as long as they're here cause right now we're actually in contention and they need our support. Jordan4life_2007
Maggs is STILL with the Sox. Therefore he will get all of my support. I'm not worried about next year. As long as he's still with us I will cheer for him.

I've also been one to say don't sign maggs at whatever cost but he changes everything in this lineup. I still don't think he's worth 14 mill but I'm almost at the point where I'm saying sign him no matter what, especially now that we have freddy locked up for next year which is huge in this decision making. Like you attempted to say I'm happy I'm not in kenny's shoes right now. With Freddy signed we have a pretty solid pitching core now and I really want to see maggs signed because I can't imagine him in another uni. greasywheels121
I wonder if playing in front of the home crowd now, and getting all the home love playing for a CONTENDING team will make him reconsider on any of these deals. However, I don't want to hear about it. Let Mags and KW take care of this stuff behind the scenes. I'm pretty sick of hearing it.

Interestingly enough, it has been Kenny who has kept things private, but Magglio ahs insisted on letting the media know what is going on. I wonder if Maggs knows that he is just telling us that what they are giving him is fair, but he just won't sign.
greg775
I'm glad the Sox fans gave him a standing ovation. That is class. Maggs isn't running up to the media saying "come interview me about my contract." he's answering their f***ing questions. Why not enjoy the season like everybody is saying and give Maggs a break. He's going to do what 99.9 percent of all baseball players do: Take the most money and the most years wherever that will be. There is no such thing as loyalty, et. all. That went out the window a long time ago.

And that is a stupid comment by greg775, because everyone should know that a player will only give out statements about his contract to lobby fan support and try to coerce more money from management. Not that I blame maggs for doing this, but that is why it is done. And I think it is wrong to ignore the maggs contract situation, afterall it is part of the future. Go Maggs
