valponick
Just saw this on the ticker on ESPN. Giambi is out with his parasite problem for the HR Derby. I can't imagine he'll play in the game. This might open up a much deserved spot for Konerko.
WHarris1
They also said Berkman will replace Griffey in the Derby.
WHarris1
Yeah, I think the Derby would f*** up Paulie's swing. Similar to 2002.

OSUBUCKS2
at this point, if i were konerko or buerhle and an All Star spot became available and they got offered it, i would say no thanks. its already late and id ratehr have them have 3 days off and be fresh for the second half

DABearSoX
I dont want paulie in the HR derby, that would be what would make me worry about him for the 2nd half....his mindset on his swing gets all F'ed up....but I would like to see him play an inning or two in the game.....Torre will pick his gardner anyway.... AngelasDaddy0427
If Paulie does get an offer for it he should just say f*** you. Of course it'll either be whoever the Yankee backup is or Travis Hafner...
Al Lopez Ghost (old)
Joe Torre is a fair man. If there is an opening, it will go to the best available Yankee.

whitesoxin'
I wouldn't mind Konerko going to the game because it's not like he's on a schedule of pitches or whatever. Buehrle and the other pitchers, especially Shingo, need the rest, Konerko doesn't really need the full three days. As long as he doesn't f*** up his swing in the HR Derby if he's in it. Guys like Frank crave "respect" and validation. Just make sure they stay away from anything to do with a Derby - Magglio still hasn't been the same since winning the 2003 Las Vegas HR Challenge. If Paulie makes the All-Star team, that could help his trade value as well - it's probably the highest it's been since 1st half of 2002. Then again, with Frank going down, Kong is no longer as expendable as he used to be - unless Sox use the money saved the deal to get Randy Johnson or a premiere lead-off man, then I am not as eager to part with Paulie as I was a week ago when Maggs was about to come back and Hurt hadn't yet revealed the extent of his ankle injury.
