SuperSteve
Well, I guess that means they're not getting Nomar b/c Boston wants pitching. Corey Patterson maybe........just throwing out a name that could make sense.
ChiSox_Sonix
No doubt Clement will go, but mabye someone like Guzman will go in the deal to??? Wellmeyer?? Hendry said under no circmustances will he deal Angel Guzman or Felix Pie
WSoxShuf
So he doesn't want to deal Pitchers or their top prospects. Note to Jim Hendry: not everyone is the pirates who got raped by last years deal for nobodies.
SuperSteve
So he doesn't want to deal Pitchers or their top prospects. Note to Jim Hendry: not everyone is the pirates who got raped by last years deal for nobodies. Bobby Hill is actually pretty solid. The Pirates couldn't afford everyone last season. They already got Randall Simon back, and Aramis Ramirez was a headcase there. He was also expensive for a team with the payroll of a small Dunkin' Dounts store. Exactly Jim Hendry gets way too much credit for what he does as a general manager
WSoxShuf
Also to Boston and New York, Chicago Baseball is no competition, the true rival is them. boston is going to do anything they can to outdue the yankees for pitching, Nomar is their prized chess piece. Theo Epstein is a wonderful GM and will hopefully make them give up Clement.

AngelasDaddy0427
:fthecubs I think Hendry is just insane. First off Nomar is old and isn't going to be of much help to anyone this season or next... Second the Red Sox are not stupid and will not just give him away for nothing... :fthecubs

SuperSteve
Johnny Damon. Use Patterson as RF/LF. Manny needs days off, as does Trot. Trot has been hurt, and Ortiz could go to 1B and Manny DH for some games. The Red Sox were going ofter Beltran, and seemingly could use another OF. witesoxfan
If the Cubs want Nomar bad enough, I could possibly see a trade of something like Clement-Rusch/Mitre/some other potential starter and prospects for Garciaparra and Lowe. I could see something happening very easily. Boston was doing well even when Nomar was out, and they could very much use the pitching. The Cubs probably figure since they fixed Aramis's defensive problems at 3B, they can help Nomar at SS, and that they could give up some pitching. Maybe they can do an actual swap...Nomar and Lowe for Clement and Gonzalez(when he comes off the DL of course). Boston then uses AGonz as a utility IFer(or they let Bellhorn play everyday, but have him remain as the utility IF, and when someone needs a day off, Agonz then plays), and Clement in the rotation, while the Cubs then just put Nomar and Lowe where they need. I could also see where the Cubs would put Lowe in the bullpen again too...they've been looking for a closer, and while Lowe was s*** closing in his last year of doing it, maybe a change of scenery would help him again. israel4ever
Corey Patterson sucks! Why would the Bosox want him?

SoxAce
I hope Boston gets some good pitching in the cubs' farm system. A Sisco/Blasko/Vasquez type.
Jordan4life_2007
The Slubs would be complete idiots to trade Clement. With any kinda of solid run support he could have about 12 wins right now. Maddux is obviously washed up. And you don't know how Prior and Wood are gonna hold up. I hope the Cubs do it. That would seriously hurt their chances at the playoffs. whitesoxin'
I don't know if it's been stated in the thread yet, but I heard from a friend that it would be Clement/A Gonz/prospect for Nomar. I would be happy with that trade because the Cubs would be overpaying BIG TIME. Clement is a hell of a pitcher who gets absolutely no run support. Similar to Freddy Garcia in Seattle. It basically says Nomar is worthless, but then they won't trade him for nothing.
Yoda
The Cubs may let go Clement. You only need 4 pitchers in the playoffs and at this moment they don’t really need Matt. He has that 7-8 record with a very good ERA, but when he gets up on the mound he gets absolutely no run support. If they do give him up, the Cubs always have Rusch.
