Randy Johnson

Anaheim was the logical choice, they don't want to pony up the cash. Arizona is looking for major league ready prospects. They think they can contend next year, so they are looking for guys that will help them win next year. So think about players that could help Arizona win next year, as players they are looking to acquire. Chances are, he will remain where he is. I heard yesterday, the 3 way involving Boston, Arizona, and the Cubs, (was erroneously reported as the Sox) wouldn't happen, because the Cubs top prospects aren't and won't be quite ready to help them next year.

Yep.. and over and over again I'm hearing $8 million remaining this year and $16 next year NOT deferred owed to RJ. Would be nice.. but I just don't see it happening unless JR has reciently been hit on the head.. hard.

Repeatedly.

The only way I see a Randy Johnson deal happening is if we include Maggs to nullify some of the salary differential, and AZ probably won't want to do that.

If Randy Johnson does not get to the Yankees, and if the Yankees lose out Kevin Brown and Lieber due to injury during the playoffs, and Mussina and Contreras continue to suck, the Yankees will be killing themselves for losign Garcia to us

And I will love that :headbang

A little Reinsdorf story that may have got under his skin.

At Sox Fest my friends and I go into Knuckles Sports bar to have some beers. Reinsdorf is in there sittng at the bar having a drink. My buddy pulls a $1 bill out of his pocket, walks up to JR, and says, "here, you need this more than I do" Reinsdorf couldn't believe what happened. A good laugh was had.

Maybe when Corg saw what was being posted at whitesox.com he dropped his laptop, and it fell on JR's head.

Randy Johnson LHP ARI Signed Mar 2003 - 2 years/$33M

2003: $15.0M  option exercised

2004: $16.0M

2005: $16.0M

-Receives additional $1M personal services payment

-$6M deferred each year

I'm aware of this as I have posted it several times.. however on Week in Review last Sunday as well as several times this week on MJ&H it's been mentioned that the $$ is not deferred.

if we really wanna get this deal done, we can

RJ has concidered moving to a big city now... duhhh

and one thing that i keep hearing the unit say, is the trade MUST BENIFIT THE D BACKS.... and that they are lookin for help in 2005

if we threw this at them, i dont see it getting beaten....

CREDE, DIAZ, COTTS, and ANDERSON

for RJ

Uribe would move to SS or 3rd... harris could start at 2B... arow at CF

it would be giving up A s*** LOAD, and we probably wont even have to give up that much.... but we do have the tools to get it done....

the questions are,

does KW think that RJ - those types of players = a better team NOW?

and will JR open his wallet again?

None at all, Johnson will go to Boston, Nomar to the scrubs, and we'll struggle to go 3-5 on this road trip and drop out of 1st. But hey, it got me over the hump of this hump day. ;) :o  :o

I highly doubt RJ goes to the Red Sox after reading how much he and Schilling don't get along. Scrubbies settle for Orlando Cabrera.

Oh hell.. even a broken clock is right twice a day..

you are right far more often than that -

and I am not sure that I want to give up much of anything for a 41 year old pitcher no matter who it is

but you had me a few threads ago with other convincing observations

I know when they signed him they gave him a ton of deferred money. Arizona does this big time on every deal they do. However, their could be a stipulation where if he's traded then the money is owed immediately. :huh

I don't want to see both Crede and Cotts go, however, other then that I have no problem with the deal although I'd personally prefer to ship out Borchard compared to Anderson.

I definately think Crede or Cotts will be one of the key pieces to the deal.

I do that deal so long as we do not have to give up Anderson and Arizona throws in Robbie Alomar.

Give them Borchard or Sweeney...not Anderson.

Crede, Diaz, Cotts, and Borchard/Sweeney for RJ and Robbie? Look good to anyone else?

Lineup becomes...

Harris - 2B

Lee - LF

Maggs - RF

Thomas - DH(and if he isn't healthy, probably Borchard if he is not traded...otherwise, probably Gload or someone acquired...and obviously lower in the order too)

Valentin - SS

Konerko - 1B

Uribe - 3B

Rowand - CF

Davis/Burke/Alomar - C

with Robbie as a utility IF or insurance in case Harris starts to suck again.

Personally, I have no problem with it. KW damn near traded Crede to Seattle for Garcia, I don't see why he would not be willing to trade him to Arizona. And out of the 4 we would give them, only one could be non-major league ready next year(that being Sweeney).

As usual, we are on the same page...agreed. Although I don't really want Alomar here, but we know the Sox liked him.

Well kw said he didn't want to trade 2 regulars. I'm not so sure if I want to see uribe and willie both in the lineup at the same time. I think a package centered around cotts and anderson, plus rauch or diaz or another solid but not spectacular prospect would get the job done.

What would really cap it off is if we then got Schneider or Kendal(and if Kendall, with Pittsburgh picking up about $15-18 mill of his remaining salary)l. :)

He nearly traded Olivo and Crede for Garcia. Looks like 2 regulars to me. ;)

Besides, Cotts is hardly a regular. He is a decent LHP out of the pen.

Uribe and Harris play together well. And if either start to struggle, we would have Robbie Alomar again as well.

They no doubt want Finley.

I'd say drop the Cubs out of that list.  Out of the four remaining, we definitely have the best prospects.

Like I said a while ago, we don't get Randy if he doesn't want to come here.  We don't get him if get goes nowhere.  I think we're the team with the most and best to offer, so it's up to KW to pull the trigger.

In my best Ben Stiller voice, "DO IT!"

are you saying that we haver better prospect than the sCrubs........... i like your loyalty, but you are way wrong on that.
