Rex Hudler
Birmingham wins 5-3..... Nice outing for Villacis w/ 0 BB and 9 K in 7 IP. Spidale two more hits, an rbi and his 21st stolen base...... Martel is a nice AA player... he's a grinder....... Stewart showed tonight why the Sox like him behind the plate so much...... Their SS, Nelson Castro who has good speed, got a good jump attempting to steal..... Stewart caught the pitch and released the ball faster than any catcher I have ever seen (including Quintero) and the throw was 6 inches off the ground, 6 inches in front of the bag to nail him easily...... It was a thing of beauty.... Barons Box
Rex Hudler
Charlotte drops game to AAA Yankees, 9-3.... Munoz wasn't too bad, but did walk 4. Only one run was earned, but it looks as if it were due to his own error.... Jose Santiago blew the game wide open, allowing 5 runs in the 7th inning.... nothing interesting to report regarding the offense....... Rowand44
Winston-Salem wins 5-4. Huge game for McCarthy - 6 IP 2H 0R 1BB 2K.... Rogowski 2-2 with a HR, 2 runs and 3 walks....... NICE Warthogs Boxscore Wow, awesome game by bmac. I must say I'm shocked he only had 2 k's but only 2 hits allowed, awesome job bmac. Rex Hudler
NO idea what the hell happened with Bristol....... I think there were some missed extra points or safeties or something..... not sure how they got to a 16-11 loss...... looking further, it is obvious that there were lots of fumbles and interceptions - 6 errors for each team......... That game must have been painful to watch..... the boxscore was so painful I am not even going to link it........ if you want to know how bad they were, look it up yourself. I can't contribute to baseball that bad!
Rex Hudler
Gotta luv rookie ball! 3 errors by each team in Great Falls as well...... The GF Sox drop one to the Casper the Friendly Ghosts, 3-1...... nothing terribly good or bad to report on O or D......... danman31
To make matters worse there were 4 wild pitches in the Bristol game. :puke BMac's K numbers are going down. Must be more patient hitters in the Carolina League, or better umpires.
dasox24
Must be more patient hitters in the Carolina League, or better umpires. Lets hope it's the former of those.
dasox24
LaMura has been just awesome on relief for Bham this year. He pitched another scoreless inning of relief tonight, lowering his era to 0.84. I guess he's found his role. Schnur had another hit, extending his hit streak. It sucks to see Bound go 0-4, dropping his avg. to 267 after being above .280 a couple weeks ago after a hot streak he had. Also, great game by Whisler! It's great to see him doing well. Hopefully, more starts like this are to come. Lopez continues to hit for W-S; his avg. is at .285 now. Way to go Bmac on the great start! And, Pollok got his Carolina league-leading 19th save of the year. Baj and/or Smith really need to get promoted to Charlotte so Pollok can become the closer for Bham. He's shown he can close a game in high-A, so why not give a chance at AA? Lastly, screw Becker/Sasser, and get Rogo called up to Birmingham pronto, or else I'll level Toronto. danman31
It's nice to see Lopez's average up at .285, BUT he just won't take a walk. 13 walks in 265 at bats good for an on base of .314. That's awful for a top of the lineup guy. That's why Gonzalez was batting leadoff (.381 on base). Thankfully Lopez has only struck out 19 times, but those numbers are still pretty bad. ChiSox_Sonix
Wow, BMac hasnt missed a beat. Also promising to see Munoz only give up 1 ER in 6 IP; needs to cut down on the walks though. I'd like to see Villacis up in Charlotte before the year is over, he's done nicely in BHam and we dont need to see Stewart and Kohlmeier over and over down there. Villacis could have a future with us, KC thought enough of him to use him once this year. I'm still kinda surprised he was just let go like that
