Not a bad price tag at all. Hopefully Gary will be promoted to Montreal ASAP, he was a very nice guy when Jason and I interviewed him in Charlotte.

Frees up a spot on the 40 man, too. Hooray....and I'm assuimg Borchard gets sent down? Either him or Burke.

I don't know much about majewski, any help?

Fastball, slider, changeup. Changeup is developing, more of a "show me" pitch as of now. Mid 90s fastball, good slider, has had some control issues. Should be somewhat decent out of the pen.

im happy with this deal, realisticly we weren't gonna bring up rauch again. he scarred himself with his actions in the clubhouse, it was only a matter of time before he gtot dealt.

They brought him back after that incident, and he shut Cleveland down. KW has a fascination with Carl. Rauch could have been used to pick up something better. Hopefully Carl's lack of production this season can be blamed entirely on injuries and he is and will remain healthy for the rest of the year. I'm skeptical.

Exactly the guy is a headcase.

I hope he becomes successful but he kind of sealed his own fate.

He had no future in the Sox organization and now we have a cheap player who can help us down the stretch and maybe even next year...

To this point, Everett has had a terrible offensive year. With an ops under .700, we better hope that he is healthy. Watching him play last night, he looked out of shape and much slower than last year. It just seems like Rauch could have been used to bring in someone better and more proven this year. A lot of team would love the chance to work with a 6'11" pitcher.

A 6'11 guy who tops out at like 93 MPH.

We're not exactly talking the next Randy Johnson here.

I hope he's successful but he had no future here.

You have to realize that GM's are not stupid. They knew KW was shopping Rauch. You don't get top value when you are that down on a player.

I was at that game Rauch pitched against Cleveland, it was a rainy day game on a Thursday ... he was far from shutting down the Indians. Lots of very hard hit outs, and Rowand made that great play at the CF wall to save Rauch's bacon.

Certainly not minimizing Rauch's contributions/potential, but he wouldn't have gotten a chance here and the same with Majewski. Good news here is even if these two guys blossom, it's in the National League. So it won't directly hurt us.

Good deal for the White Sox, we needed a bat.

I also thought that Rauch had the best chance to be in the rotation next year. With Loaiza and Schoeneweis likely gone, we're going to need to find 2 starting pitchers. It's also safe to say that KW is not going to make any other major moves now. Who do we really have left to trade? Better not be Anderson or Sweeney.

For you guys saying Everett hasn't produced much this year, he's only had 127 ABs. That's a real small sample-size to take anything from him... He also breaks up the righties in our lineup, and we'll have a very potent 3-7 part of the order, especially against righties.

Maggs/Lee/Everett/Konerko/Valentin? Maggs/Everett/Lee/Valentin/Konerko? Or scratch both of those, and Everett in the three spot? I like Maggs in the three spot, so I hope Everett is hitting fourth or fifth.

How so? Garland/Buehrle/Garcia are already penciled in. Schoenewies will probably have a chance to have a shot in our rotation next year, same with Cotts. You have to imagine Kenny will go after another FA starter, and Diaz would definitely have the first shot over Rauch, considering he pitched much better.

Your logic is flawed...

I'm pretty sure that Schoeneweis is not signed for next year, and it doesn't appear as if Ozzie likes him very much. Also, with how poorly he has been pitching, I doubt that the Sox will want to bring him back for a couple of million. The reason I thought Rauch had a better chance than Diaz or Cotts is because Diaz and Cotts look to be major league relievers, not starters. Cotts is a 2-pitch pitcher who struggles against righties...not exactly the formula for a good starter. Also, Diaz seems to get rocked his 2nd time around a line-up. I'm not even a big fan of Rauch, I just thought he would be starting for the Sox next year.
