Are you nuts Josh????

Freaking Everett gives us a veteran hitter who can take a walk, hit with power and was our most clutch hitter last half of last season for a couple of AAAA pitchers. Majewsji would never make our staff and Rauch would be gone next year if he did not make it, since out of options.

Now we can promote 2 pitchers up to AAA, Baj and a starter and let them progress up to the majors.

Great trade.

You luvvvvvv Everett Huh!!

Everett better be DH'ing for us.

If then, I love this trade. His defense is brutal, however.

He will be better in RF than Gload would be. He has been a good OF over the years, just lost the speed/quickness for CF. He would be just fine in RF and Maggs DHing in case Maggs is not able to play RF.

You'd think it would be Borchard.

why???

with the sox addressing several things with this trade, you can play joe b in cf and have him bat 7 or 8 and let him sink or swim.

i think he might be ready to show something now.

It just hit me.  This also gives up another signed OF for 2005, which is another bright red flashing sign that Magglio will not be back here next year.

good point, but i hate to mention this, losing mags numbers is going to hurt.

That's what I thought too. On mlb.com there was mention of a $500,000 buyout in Everett's contract. If that's true and KW got Montreal to pick up most of the tab on this year's salary, this trade doesn't look as bad as I thought. I will give KW credit though, he does have balls and he is aggressive. I don't like his airing of dirty laundry in public, I don't agree with some of his deals, but at least he is trying. Schueler would sit on overhyped prospects until he had to release them.

They definately will hurt. But we also are saving $10ish million in RF for 2005. Which coincidentally is almost exactly how much Freddy Garcia will make next year. Its been nice having you Maggs, but He Gawn...

We weren't going to be able to resign Mags anyways; we might as well have been getting ready for life without him.

He was a free agent the sox didn't offer arbitration to - he would have been making much more than he was worth...

Everett hit .300+ with about 10 HRs and 40 RBIs with us last year (IIRC, the RBI's could be wrong). He was very clutch with us last year and I'm glad to have him back.

It's odd that there's nothing official on MLB.com, whitsox.com, or chicagosports.com.

EDIT: Nevermind, it's up on whitesox.com

Welcome back to the Southside, Carl! :headbang :cheers

It's on mlb.com now. And it was 41 rbi's. :headshake

This is a good deal for many reasons. With Thomas out we needed another legit threat, and when healthy Everett is that. Also, Everett gives us another lefty to break up our RH bats. Also, it gives us insurance should Maggs walk next year and if Borchard proves to not be able to do anything. We also didnt lose much. Rauch would never have been higher than a #4 for us and with Cotts, Munoz, Diaz plus I'm sure KW will get a pitcher next year it doesnt hurt. Maj wouldnt have been here except in September. Also, what this does is give room for someone from BHam to move up to Charlotte, possibly Baj or Villacis. And, like someone said, it opens a spot on the 40 man roster if we wanted to call someone up
