EvilJester99
Not a huge loss but he was one of the only dmen they had that actually played defense....
IlliniKrush
Nothing big here We need the young guys to come up and take these jobs
SAVVY18
He wasn't even utilized on D alot of the time. Sutter had him at forward. No big loss. He was a great guy, but not a very good hockey player. Best of luck to him.
EvilJester99
Hopefully this opens a full time spot for Babchuk or Seabrook if he is ready.
southsider2k5
I think they are hoping some of the draft picks can step in. Then again, that is if they even play this year...
EvilJester99
Thing I do also hope is the Hacks will be smart and resign Berard. Not much for D but moves the puck awesome and can score some key goals.
CWSGuy406
Struddy as a good guy, but he wasn't real great defensively. He was nice to have as a fourth-line tough guy, but that's about it. Speaking of defensemen, I really like Jim Vandermeer. I honestly think he can be a stable, number three defenseman in the future. He's big, skates well, and plays pretty solid D. What do you guys think our D will look like the next time we see the Hawks on the ice? Berard, Vandermeer, Babchuk, Robidas, McCarthy, then who? Barinka? CWSGuy406
No way Seabrook gets the call this year. Im sure he will start in Norfolk this year, if not stay in Red Deer. I think he is still 2 years away. There isnt going to be hockey anyway, so by the time it starts up again, im sure he will be ready. For Seabrook, he can either play again in the junior leagues, or in the NHL. He can't go to Norfolk - I don't know why or what the rule is on that, but it's either NHL or back with Red Deer. SAVVY18
What do you guys think our D will look like the next time we see the Hawks on the ice? Berard, Vandermeer, Babchuk, Robidas, McCarthy, then who? Barinka? Well, Berard is taking the team to arbitration, so that is generally the kiss of death. If he is awarded much more than they were offering, the Hawks will just walk away. It sucks, but that is the way they do business. That said, that other spot you were talking about is going to come from that #1 D-man that they said they were going to sign... I almost said it with a straight face!!! It is hard to say what will happen until the CBA gets worked out.
IlliniKrush
McCarthy isn't liked in the organization, i don't see him being part of our team for much longer. Hell, they've abused him enough.
