Yoda
The Cardinals have proven to be a very scary offensive team. Like Minnesota, the Cubs have the Cardinals as their #1 division rival. The loss taken by the Cubs will dig an even deeper hole for the lovable losers. An 8-2 lead seems good enough for us Sox fans, but for Dusty Baker’s eye and everyone else’s, its just not enough. The red-hot birds managed to rally back big time. And they wouldn’t be able to do it without Albert Pujols who hit 3 home runs in one single game. The Cubs are still trying to get whole. Glendon Rusch, subbing for Mark Prior in the rotation, gave up five runs on six hits and one walk over five-plus innings. He struck out six and was in line for the win. The Cardinals have done this to the Cubs before. On July 28, 2002, St. Louis rallied from a six-run deficit to beat Chicago, 10-9, at Busch Stadium. Albert Pujols went 5-for-5 with three home runs, including a two-run blast in the ninth inning, to power the St. Louis Cardinals to an 11-8 come-from-behind victory over the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday. So Cubs don’t even try to go for the Wild Card because you’re not going to get it the way your bullpen has pitched. Last year was your year, but you chocked and f***ed up big time. southsider2k5
This team reminds me of the 2000 Sox. This ship has more bandaids over holes than I have seen in a long time. So many fragile players are contributing so much. I get a feeling they get bombed in the playoffs.

witesoxfan
I don't think the Cards get bombed in the play offs, but I don't think they can win the world series Their rotation is s***. Carpenter-Morris-Williams-Suppan-Marquis is f***ing bush league. I agree very much with SS2k4...they have a Sirotka in Carpenter, and they just threw a s***load of pitchers in the pen and it clicked. If the Giants make it, they're f***ed. If the Dodgers make it, their f***ed. If the Padres make it, their f***ed. Problem is, atleast 1 of those 3 teams will make it, and in all likelyhood, 2 will. Then you have the Mets who have a solid 1-2-3 there(Glavine-Leiter-Trachsel), the Marlins have a very good young rotation(no matter who they throw...DTrain, Penny, Pavano, Burnett, Beckett...all awesome), though the Phils and Braves are not nearly as good. The Cards offense will not win in the playoffs alone, and I don't see the rotation doing anything. If they can somehow, someway get RJ, then it is an entirely different story. If not, they're done IMO.

In an unrelated note, it seems like the Cubs wear those blue jerseys for every single game; home, road, day and night. If Dusty was so concerned about the sun wearing down his players wouldn't he have them wear the white jerseys?

Spando was in here for 2 or 3 weeks straight tellin us how godly the Cubs were and crucifying anybody who didn't agree with him. There was even a thread "that i'm too lazy to look up" of him saying that this time next year the Cubs would be on their way to their 2nd world series, while the Sox would be all but forgotten. I haven't seen him around since the Cubs nosedive. Is he hiding out with Steve Bartman?

witesoxfan
I thought I would bring up this thread because well, it makes Brando look really bad. Do or die for the Cards What's even better is Jeckle's post(not the Sox part...that's actually partially possible yet...but very unlikely). The Cardinals are hopeless this year. Not that it matters because the Astros will win the NL Central anyway...

Another old thread about the flubs We tried to tell them, Rowand. They wouldn't listen. They fell for all the media hype. Peter Gammons pickin them to go to the series. The cover of si. I mean everybody was pickin them. But I knew better. They are the CUBS. No matter what. They will always be the CUBS. They will always find someway to f*** it up. Last years playoffs collapse wasn't a fluke. They're the CUBS.

danman31
Another priceless Brando quote. Cardinals have proven they can't beat the New Cubs in the last 2 years. 10-8 this year, not bad against a winning team.

danman31
Dan, I think you learned a very important lesson in life, NEVER trust espn. Yeah, well, I went to CBS Sportsline to verify my stats. They had the same thing. So I had to count the results by hand and it's 11-8.
