Sox1422
The Sox catching situation needs to be fixed. Ben Davis is horrible, Sandy is old, and Burke is a minor leaguer. Jason Kendall would be great, but I know he has a huge contract. Who else might be out there to strengthen this spot for the Sox? BTW, MO is starting to get hot for Seattle. Still would rather have FG, but catcher needs to be addressed.

The sox should get Kendell. i dont care about the contract. with kendell, the sox would have another good bad and a good catcher. he would add a consistant bat to the top of the order that is scoring a lot of runs this year. but if the Pirates pick up half the contract, DO IT NOW!! Dave Littlefield WILL NOT pick up half of Kendall's contract, so you can keep dreaming about us acquiring him, I think if he's dealt he only wants to go to an NL team as well. Brian Scheneider would have been a great option, but he probably would hav been included in the Carl Everett deal if we were to get him. Other names like Greg Zaun, A.J Piersynki and Benito Santiago hav been mooted around here as possible targets.
southsider2k5
I think you can also throw Brent Mayne out there. The Dbacks are going to start melting things down here soon.

No chance at Steve Finley now though with the acquisition of Everett and the way A-Row has been hitting. If Shea Hillenbrand became available, I would like to have a look at him if Crede doesn't turn it around hitting wise.

DBAHO
is Burke the best catching prospect in the Sox system? No. Donny Lucy was drafted in the 2nd round this year, and is currently playing Great Falls. Ryan Hankins is also hitting quite well for Charlotte at the catcher position. southsider2k5
is Burke the best catching prospect in the Sox system? They have some guys in the low minors that have much higher ceilings. They are pretty high on their draft pick from this year Don Lucy, but he is years away.

Like he wouldn't pick up half when Kendall was going to be traded to the Pads last year? der!

witesoxfan
is Burke the best catching prospect in the Sox system? Burke's not a prospect. He was a 29 or 30 year old career minor leaguer when the Sox signed him. Fortunately for us, he has been able to hit well in Charlotte and has hit .260 for us. dasox24
Who is the guy at AAA playing 3rd? Kelly Dransfeldt is playing 3B there; I'd much rather stick with Crede, as I'm sure everyone else would, so no help will be coming from Charlotte to help the 3B situation. Our closest 3B prospects, Fields (high A) and Schnurstein (low A), are both in A-ball, so we won't see them for a couple years. And, as for our catcher situation: Like others said before, Ryan Hankins is doing very well in AAA, in his 1st season as a catcher. But, he's 28 years old and need to work on blocking balls in the dirt and few other things. Lucy is our best catcher prospect. He's really struggling in rookie ball right now, but he's very athletic, and definitely a guy to watch out for. However, he's still years away.
