We are the Champions by Queen... I love that song :headbang

Love Shack by the B-52s (i think that's their name)

St. Elmo's Fire by ?

There's a lot more I could list. I don't listen to these songs all the time, but I still do sometimes b/c I burned a CD with all 80s songs a couple of months ago.

Always Something There to Remind Me and Jenny Jenny were both good calls. I'll add:

Ah! Leah! - Donnie Iris

the Beat Goes On/Awitchin' To Glide - The Kings

My Sharon-a - the Knack (even though it was released in 1979, it's an 80s song at heart)

Along with Jenny Jenny, these are pretty much the New Wave anthems that I still get a kick out of.

Honerable mentions:

No One is to Blame - Howard Jones

In a Big Country - Big Country

Land Down Under - Men At Work (a buddy and I used to do a kicking acoustic version of this back when I played out more)

And my embarassing 80s guilty pleasures...

Prince and most anything off of the first couple Huey Lewis and the News albums

Hey, admitting I have a problem is half the battle, right? :D

Danny Elfman sure has come a long way from the Oingo and/or Boingo days, huh?

I'm sure Danny got a kick when Blender put them at #16 on their 50 worst bands of all time list.

All good stuff, Jim. Huey Lewis (early stuff) was very good.

"Take On Me" by the Ah-ha

I just watched Detroit Rock City last night. Great movie... lots of great 70s and 80s songs.

The best cowbell song of all time, of course, Blue Oyster Cult's Don't Fear The Reaper, although it was released in '76...

Yes! Awesome. Don't get off topic now. :nono :D

All our times have come

Here but now they're gone

Seasons don't fear the reaper

Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain

We can be like they are

Come on baby... Don't fear the Reaper

Baby take my hand... Don't fear the Reaper

We'll be able to fly... Don't fear the Reaper

Baby I'm your man...

Valentine is done

Here but now they're gone

Romeo and Juliet

Are together in eternity...

Romeo and Juliet

40,000 men and women everyday... Like Romeo and

Juliet

40,000 men and women everyday... Redefine

happiness

Another 40,000 coming everyday...We can be like

they are

Come on baby... Don't fear the Reaper

Baby take my hand... Don't fear the Reaper

We'll be able to fly... Don't fear the Reaper

Baby I'm your man...

Love of two is one

Here but now they're gone

Came the last night of sadness

And it was clear she couldn't go on

Then the door was open and the wind appeared

The candles blew then disappeared

The curtains flew then he appeared

Saying don't be afraid

Come on baby... And we had no fear

And we ran to him... Then they started to fly

They looked backward and said goodbye

We had become like they are

We had taken his hand

We had become like they are

Come on baby...don't fear the reaper

Van Halen - 5150. That whole album just kicks ass.

Scorpions...Again Kicks ass.

Actually, the mid 80's were my high school years, so there is sooo much of it I like because that is what we were bombarded with. I don't particularly care for alot of that whiny european, soft rock crap that was out though. Gimme 80's metal and I am fine.

Sorry about getting off topic mreye...

Damn, I forgot about the Scorpions...

If you want 80's metal... Metallica. Ride the Lightning is still one of my favorite albums of all time, even though I didn't buy it until about 10 years later when I was more "of age." Of course Master of Puppets kicks ass, too...

With the cheesey 80s stuff, was I the only one into rap/hip hop back then?  I was a big Fresh Prince fan.  Also liked the Fat Boys, Run DMC and those kind of groups.

I liked Fresh Prince. I don't know if I'd call myself a "big fan", even if I was one. :P I liked the old LL Cool J stuff, too.
