CanOfCorn
They should stick Borch in RF and leave him there. See what he can do without the pressure of losing his job again. He won't have to look over his shoulder and he can play every day because he's a switch hitter...maybe he'll respond?
Queen Prawn
To be honest... I don't think this is as bad as it looks. Honestly, it sounds like something that he's had for awhile (as you said, undiagnosed) and strikingly similar to what I have.

Queen Prawn
swimming? It's the best therapy out there for knees - no impact and it still excersizes it. My uncle-in-law does a bunch of laps a day for his knee problem.

jasonxctf
So I ask Sox Fans... now do you look to trade some top-Minor League talent (Borchard, Munoz, etc) for a quality 4-8 weelk replacement for Maggs?
Steff
I really feel that Wednesday was the last time we will see Maggs in a Sox Uniform.
Queen Prawn
Future Uncle-In-Law? or is he your Uncle-in-law? lol future - too lazy to type out stuff today - the last three weeks or so of work have been murder...lol
Sox1422
You would rather not say right now? What are you hiding?? Well, I wish I could see some light. I really feel that Wednesday was the last time we will see Maggs in a Sox Uniform. Let's not get crazy here. If he takes care of it right this time he can come back for the final couple of weeks fresh and ready to carry this team to the WS. How sweet will it be to get into mid September against Minny and have Thomas and Maggs back in the line up on top of whatever KW does in the mean time. CanOfCorn
I don't think this is the last time we see Maggs in a Sox uniform...his price of 5 yrs/$70 mil just went down. He's not going to get that now. Maybe 5 yrs/$50 mil and loaded with playing time incentives...possibly?
Yoda
Well, I wish I could see some light. I really feel that Wednesday was the last time we will see Maggs in a Sox Uniform. Screw your feeling! Any word on Kenny. It's been like an HOUR!
The Beast
Heres what I have to say. Magglio will hurt us, no doubt about it. But seriously, I'm not worried. We already proved we can win without him. Right now we are on Everett's wings, he is in the cockpit as we speak. Crede needs to start hitting. I don't like seeing Joeblow and Crede in the lineup at the same time. Where is all the "power" numbers we allegedly are supposed to know about? IF Herm said that, Ordonez will be out for 15 days plus rehab. I'm trusting in what he said, but like I hear, he said he HOPES it wasn't worse than it was. However, Herm did say the range of motion is good, and that the fluid is cleared up, so we could see Magglio before the end of the year. As for getting someone- I don't think this would be a very good idea to get Finley. We have Timo, we have Everett. If anything we need to keep playing our best at Ozzie ball and stop worrying about the big things, and start worrying about the little things of bunts, walks and base hits. Adding an arm in the pen is a must, so lets settle down, see how these next 2 weeks go and make a deal for somebody before the deadline. Dick Allen
Does anyone know if the Sox have insurance on Magglio's contract? They might be able to recoup some of the cash they are paying him if he is unable to play. Maybe then they pick up a guy like Delgado, if its true he would play for the Sox. FlaSoxxJim
I thought about that when Frank went down. THAT would be so sweet. Were still in a race like we are now, and right before the Twins series, They both come back, and we get SOOOOO hot going into the playoffs. Could be nice..... There's gonna be a lot of rust to shake off for them to both jump right in and perform at a pennent race/playoff level.... likely rehab stints to get the eye and swings back, etc. I'm trying to be optimistic about it to (as optimistic as possible), but this is going to be rough. On a more bittersweet sentimental note, I was already bumming for Frank and his not being a part of the stretch run in what might be "the year"... now I'm doubly bummed for magglio as well. EvilJester99
I think the Sox should look at Finley or maybe even Burnitz. I am not crazy about Burnitz but I believe he is cheaper than all the others and can hit. This sucks that Maggs is down and like said b4 He has played his last game with the Sox I would bet. CWSGuy406
Well guys, either way - hunker up and strap 'er down, we're gonna have an exciting two months ahead. And it would be a lot more exciting if Jason Kendall is behind the plate. I'll leave it at that, you guys probably have had enough of my hard-on thoughts for him. danman31
I'd let Borchard play in rightfield. If the team sucks along with Borchard the Sox will have to pull a white flag trade. If he does well the Sox should get a catcher (Kendall). Though if we got Delgado I would piss my pants. That would be awesome. I can't see Delgado doing as badly as he has done this year. Plus he is one of my favorite players.
The Beast
Magglio Ordonez OF CHW Signed Jul 2001 - 3 years/$29.5M 2002: $6.5M 2003: $9.0M 2004: $14.0M So no insurance policy is listed there, but I bet KW and Ncorgbl would know the answer to your question. Well, 17-19 wasn't exactly fluorishing without Magglio in the lineup. Still, we have Carl now and didn't then, and even when Frank was in during that stretch he was hurting/slumping for a lot of it, so let's see what they can do.
