BobDylan
He was officially released, and with Ordonez on the DL, the White Sox should take some serious looks at this guy. He's not the player he used to be, but there is no denying the experience he'd bring to the White Sox. Not to mention the glove he brings to 1B. I'll tell you one thing, I'd rather have Olerud struggling than Joe Borchard. I say go get him.

BobDylan
and konerko goes where? DH, or DH Olerud.
qwerty
It can't hurt, i would try it in a heart beat.
thedoctor
i thought i'd read that olerud was just going to retire because he doesn't want to leave the northwest.

qwerty
I think he can still hit us .270 -.280 and that would be a decent bat to add, imo anyway.
Bighurt52235
DH, or DH Olerud. There is now way that we DH Olerud, he is outstanding in the field. I would like to see him on our club. But don't expect more than the occasional double, though.
AngelasDaddy0427
I don't want Olerud. We already have a decent fielding first basemen and he has no offense left in the tank. I'd much rather go after a guy like Andrew Jones or Carlos Delgado.

The Critic
Not really interested in another slow-footed 1B, especially one who's older than the one the Sox currently have.
Chisoxfn
Go get him, move Everett to RF and live with it, imo. Worse case he comes in, doesn't do what you expect and you cut him lose. Best case he ads veteran leadership, another left handed bat, and does a decent job.

Pasqua's Mailman
Adding Olerud makes no sense. If you do that, you might as well say that Borchard sucks. Borchard's best side if lefty... if you want to bring in an established left-handed hitter fine. Just bring in a good one with something left in the tank. That is not Olerud. Pasqua's Mailman
Then you trade him. The answer still isn't Olerud. The guy gives you virtually nothing. In fact, I doubt he would provide much more than Borchard.
Palehosefan
I would rather go after Melvin Mora if the O's believe they are out of it. He could play lots of different positions for us and give us solid offense also and I believe he's also a good clubhouse guy.

Pasqua's Mailman
[borchard isn't ready, Olerud atleast can hit better than .180 ] Not really.... since June 17, Olerud hit .169. I would take my chances with Borchard than bring in this re-tred.
whitesox247
If we're planning on heading deep in the playoffs, I'd rather have Olerud's veteranship in the clubhouse than some kid who's been overrated his entire career have another horrible stint in the big leagues. Veteran leadership only really matters if you have something to add in terms of production. And production is something that Olerud has been lacking this year. I am not a big Borchard fan but if your only alternative is Olerud then you're better off with Borchard. At least then you can find out once and for all what you have. Pasqua's Mailman
Yeah, as if those .160 slow 1B bring a lot to the table. If we are thinking of strictly veteran leadership, why not bring in Scott Brosius? He's a veteran that has won some titles. Bringing in veteran strictly for leadership is ridiculous. If someone like Olerud has something left fine, if not take a pass. This team has a ton of veterans already. We don't need another one that can't hit... we already have Ben Davis. Now that would really be a dip s*** move.
